Hurry time is running out to lose in Iraq!
by JohnHuang2
It seems the only thing liberals love more than car bombs in Baghdad is . . . hmmm, theres nothing they love more, come to think of it (although flop-a-thon Live Earth concerts and sniffing Michael Moores soiled knickers are close behind). Every morning libbies rush to the New York Times to get their car bomb fix of the day.
Liberals love the Iraq issue so much, they want to carve Iraq into thirds lets have three Iraqs instead of just one! But with the troop surge in place even liberals are suddenly losing hope in al-Qaeda in Iraq so much so that they want to surrender now, rather than wait until September 15, which was their original game plan when they didnt think the surge would work because military expert Arianna Huffington told them so. They even want to surrender before Friday, when the first report is due. Every sane person knows that if we leave Iraq, theyll follow us here. Yet, libbies just want to quit, pick up their mullahs and bring them home in the middle of a war. America will be so much safer.
The surge has barely kicked in and already liberals are citing worrisome trends such as that its working. This is not to say there isnt any good news out of Iraq for liberals theres that wonderful Glasgow Jeep car bomb doctor from Iraq (the downside for liberals being that the mission failed, but its the thought that counts). And, of course, liberals had another grim milestone to celebrate 3,600 U.S. deaths in Iraq. (Theyre pulling for 4,000 by mid-September they love the troops.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But phase one of the failed surge is barely in place and already the signals that its working include:
The New York Times calling on Bush to withdraw immediately. The editors on Sunday wrote an editorial calling the Iraq war a lost cause but it turned out they were looking at the papers balance sheet.
Fiery, all-powerful, all-Madhi Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr fled back to Iran after realizing the Democrats dont have the votes to force Bush to lose the war. (At the time of this writing, it wasnt clear if the Mookster plans to seek Nancy Pelosis seat.)
The number of Iraqi civilian and military deaths has dropped by more than half since February. Before the surge (when liberals starting saying the surge was failing), military planners said the surge would have to work its way through all its phases for violence to drop this dramatically though hand-to-hand violence still rages hideously inside Katie Courics office.
Military geniuses like Harry Reid said the Sunnis would never join the Great Satan to fight al-Qaeda. Sunnis in Diyala, Babil and Salah-ad-Din provinces as well as the Sunnis of Anbar province have joined the Great Satan to fight al-Qaeda.
Attacks on our troops in Anbar province are down dramatically, while attacks are up only in areas the enemy still controls several Baghdad neighborhoods and over 50% of the U.S. Congress.
(Attacks by al-Qaeda on civilians inside the U.S. strangely remain at zero ever since we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq. Im sure theres no connection.)
U.S. troops whove fought in Iraq are re-enlisting in higher numbers than throughout the military in general, and over 140,000 soldiers have enlisted or re-enlisted in the Army. All three components are above the retention goals as of the end of March; overall retention mission is 37,578, (White House briefing, 7/3).
Tips on al-Qaeda from the locals are rolling in more than ever; insurgents are stacking up at the morgue; car bomb factories are being raided and shut down; more Baghdad bidnesses are opening; people are pouring back into the capital due to the failed surge in the capital, etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But none of this is enough to satisfy liberal ninnies and treasoncrats like Nancy Pelosi because their plan to establish order and stability in Iraq is to go to Syria clad in a Burka and to keep saying the word redeploy. Redeploy troops out of Iraq and Iraq will be peaceful again. You see this all the time crime-infested gangland urban areas turn into crime-free neighborhoods just as soon as the cops pull out!
But with evidence the surge is working, I notice libbies are turning to their retread excuse. Theyre upset that not enough progress has been made in Iraq on the political front (reconciliation). Liberals are astonished, stunned and dismayed that the surge has been in place for three weeks and Iraq is not Iowa yet. It took America years to get its act together why is Iraq taking years to get its act together? Sixty-two years after WWII, American troops are still in Germany because Germany still cant defend itself from the fierce threat of Warsaw Pact forces that dont exist anymore. We need a pull out plan from that quagmire.
Another favorite complaint is that Iraqis havent passed an oil law. Yes, Jihadis strap on suicide belts because Iraq lacks an oil law.
The whole point of the surge is security first, then well discuss amnesty and political reconciliation. But nothing changes facts on the ground like changing facts on the ground. The media, the Democrats and the RINOs are fixated on benchmarks in Baghdad and whether or not this or that piece of paper or bill in parliament gets passed liberals hoping nothing gets passed in order to declare the surge a failure, force the U.S. to bail, enjoy the genocide aftermath; RINOs hoping something gets passed to get the parties to cut a deal with the Sunnis, get the Sunnis to quit the insurgency and get the reconciliation going. But the Sunnis already cut a deal with the Great Satan, rolling up al-Qaeda alongside the pros because of the surge that the geniuses in Congress, believing their own press releases, think is failing. Bush figured its hard to get people pumped about reconciliation if theyre getting slaughtered and, anyway, the chaps doing the heavy lifting on the battlefield matter more than the chaps in parliament if changing facts on the ground is what you want.
But if youre Congress, the illusion is that all it takes is a bill here or amendment there, problem fixed. Get the Iraqi parliament to pass an oil law and al-Qaeda will lay down its arms! Youll see! Sen. Carl Levin on Tuesday proposed to end the war by the scheduled date of April 30, 2008. Lovely. Make sure to pass it along to al-Qaeda and good luck with that.
You can schedule dates to end the war all you want but the basic fallacy in that plan is that the enemy could have a say on when the fighting stops. But Im sure Levins measure will get al-Qaeda to fold its tent! Just you see!
Anyway, that's...

Killer Plants
READ:
Luke 14:16-26If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, . . . he cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:26
Some forest workers fight fires. Others battle fast-growing plants. A Mercury News article reported that teams of volunteers are working hard to remove invasive plants from the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Workers point out that many of the non-native species they are fighting are sold in garden stores. The German ivy plant, for example, has become a serious problem in California. This fast-growing exotic house plant competes with the native species, smothering and shading everything in its path. It can completely cover and destroy a tree.
Thinking about these home-grown invaders can help us understand something even more crucial than saving trees. Jesus warned us that anything that competes with Him for our hearts can choke our spiritual lives. He said that even the natural love of family can be dangerous and keep us from following Him (Luke 14:16-26). Our Lord demands our undivided love and loyalty.
Once we value Christ above everything else, we will learn to love our family with a deeper and healthier love. But until our ultimate loyalty is determined, home-grown affection will do in our hearts what fire or German ivy will do in a forest.
Dont let anything compete with Christ
To follow Christ we must let go
Of all that we hold dear;
And once we have denied ourselves,
Our gains become more clear. Sper
The more we love Christ, the more well love others.
