It looks like a ransom note, but it is not being sent by kidnappers. It is being promoted by the Patrick Administration, the Boston Police Department, and the State Police, and delivered to drivers on the Massachusetts Turnpike courtesy of John Rosenthal, a provocative gun control activist from Newton. "We have your President and Congress," declares the message in letters that look as if they had been snipped from a newspaper. It is signed simply, NRA, referring to the National Rifle Association, and will be unveiled today on a 252-foot billboard on the Mass. Turnpike near Fenway Park.
The message is the latest from Rosenthal, founder of Stop Handgun Violence, who has for more than a decade used the billboard, which he owns, to promote stricter gun laws. In the past, he has erected a mock road sign that declared, "Welcome to Massa chusetts -- You're More Likely to Live Here," because Massachusetts has "the most effective gun laws," and a display that featured photos of 15 children who were shot to death, under the slogan, "The cost of handguns keeps going up. 15 kids killed every day."
His latest message has drawn support from Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray, Public Safety Secretary Kevin M. Burke, Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis, and State Police Colonel Mark Delaney, all of whom plan to attend a press conference to unveil the billboard today.
It has also drawn the ire of gun owners' groups, starting with the NRA. "It's a shameless publicity ploy, and I think that's all we can say to describe it," said Andrew Arulanandam, a spokesman for the NRA.
He took issue in particular with the notion that the NRA is holding Congress hostage.

SHAMELESS TAXPAYER FUNDED DEMOCRAT GUNBANNING BILLBOARD ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Now if only someone would bother to get the constitution so that everyone can read how the founding fathers established that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Someone should tell this anti-Constitutional socialist moron that even the Congress recognized that the “big gun ban” of the recent past, was sunsetted out BECAUSE THE RESULTS PROVED THAT GUN RESTRICTIONS ON LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS DO N-O-T-H-I-N-G TO REDUCE CRIME.
Another liberal idiot hypocrite from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. Fool.
They don’t care in New England.
The Nazis didn’t care much for an armed citizenry either.
Put Ted Kennedy in prison for murder and we will let them go.

They might have the president and the Congress, but they don’t have schools, Virginia Tech, nor Columbine. They don’t have Chicago, nor Baltimore, nor until very recently, Washington DC. And you can see how well the places they don’t have, do.
the cost of cars keeps going up even more
>> The real agenda is to make it difficult for law abiding folks to buy a gun - anywhere.
They don’t believe in the Constitution. They don’t believe others have the ability to be responsible. They’re simpletons.
However,if any Freeper within a reasonable distance of Boston who might want to picket his house can Freep Mail me and maybe we can work something out.

I’m sorry, but isn’t it against the law for the police (and other government agencies) to promote political causes? Where I come from, that’s called “propaganda”.
Think the “fairness doctrine” will apply to this?
15 kids a day, now? What are they up to, kids up to age 26? 27?
.... right of the “people” to keep and bear arms ...... not just militia’s .... the writers expanded the phrase to be sure those who read it understood it was the people’s right .....
That totals 5,475 per year; and more in leap year. It is also a deliberate lie.
Lets take a look at some actual figures -- the latest I could find in a hurry -- and they have fallen since they were published. Gun Control: Myths and Realities
by David Lampo
David Lampo is the publications director at the Cato Institute. The number of well-publicized public shootings during the past few years, especially the tragedy at Columbine High School, has re-energized the gun control movement. As a show of strength, a coalition of gun control groups has organized a "Million Mom March" to be held in Washington, D.C. on Mother's Day, an event designed to stir up emotions rather than promote rational thought. And when one looks at the facts about gun control, it's easy to see why the anti-gun lobby relies on emotion rather than logic to make its case. Think you know the facts about gun control? If your only source of information is the mainstream media, what you think you know may not be correct. Take the quiz below and test your knowledge.
1. Thousands of children die annually in gun accidents.
False. Gun accidents involving children are actually at record lows, although you wouldn't know it from listening to the mainstream media. In 1997, the last year for which data are available, only 142 children under 15 years of age died in gun accidents, and the total number of gun-related deaths for this age group was 642. More children die each year in accidents involving bikes, space heaters or drownings.
The often repeated claim that 12 children per day die from gun violence includes "children" up to 20 years of age, the great majority of whom are young adult males who die in gang-related violence. Read full article at: http://www.cato.org/dailys/05-13-00.html
Ah, quite a valid point, but in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, the Massholes in charge make up the law as they go along. Quite an embarassment from the state that was once the progenitor of American Liberty. Good luck trying to find a judge in Massholeland that would even hear a suit against the MSP based upon your arguement. It makes me sick to my stomach.
I wonder how many were committing a felony at the time
“15 kids killed every day.”
Over what area? Mass.? The U.S? The world? I suspect backyard swimming pools claim more, when compared to the accurate number!
