Fresh off a trip to Iraq, a visibly tired McCain lit into the “liberal left” for advocating retreat in Iraq and then went behind closed doors to brawl with a fellow GOP senator over the war.

In what one senator called “the most serious fight that I have seen in my time in the Senate,” McCain clashed with Sen. George Voinovich (R-Ohio) over the Arizona senator’s assertion that the most dangerous threat facing U.S. troops in Iraq was Al Qaeda members.

Voinovich, who recently urged President Bush to change his war policy now, shot back that Al Qaeda “wouldn’t be in Iraq” if American forces weren’t there, according to people who witnessed the exchange.

give credit where credit is due...he might be wrong on immigration, but he’s 100% right on Iraq. Despite disagreements with McCain, we should be supportive of his strong stance on Iraq. He should do more of this, and in the public eye. He’s ten times the military man Murtha is, perhaps the media will give his pov some attention.

And Hitler never would have taken over Europe if not for the Treaty of Versailles, so we should have given up due to that stupid mistake. Voinovich should change parties and run with Cindy Sheehan.

If you agree with McCain, you might let him know.

Voinovich following the party lines...err, he's not a Democrat?

If there is to be a change in strategy, then I say "let the dogs (military) loose" and kill the bastards.

I hope he doesn’t get Voinovich crying again....

Voinovich is such a dumb $hit cry baby - one wonders how the fool ever fooled the voters in his state...

Any one from Ohio that will tell Voinovich that he is an al-Qaeda supporter and a TRAITOR, since they will not read letters or emails from people outside their states?

Well done Senator McCain! Well done. I respect the man's intensity on this issue.

We must (our base must) defend our warriors down range flanks from the DEMs/MSM.

We need to keep up the intensity. We need to let all GOP Congress members understand...We will not allow them to cut and run on our warriors. We will not fail.

To not give the troops at least until September to show results of “the surge” would be an outrage. The dammed dems were gleefully declaring defeat nearly a month ago. Where in the hell are the people in DC who are supposed to be defending the mission of the troops?!?!

It’s as if all of the people who should be advocating the right thing are asleep at the wheel, and the dems, along with the media are controlling 100% of the message and the agenda. Even the White House, as usual, seem to be caught back on their heals right now.

Voinovich... shot back that Al Qaeda "wouldn't be in Iraq" if American forces weren't there...

NO KIDDING JACKASS, they'd be in Omaha, where AMERICAN CIVILIANS ARE!

Is it not better to attract them to where those best equipped to confront them are?

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) talk to reporters on Congressional news, Iraq and other topics.

"I've seen this movie before from the liberal left in America, who share no responsibility for what happened in Cambodia when we said no while that mission was still in its early stages," McCain said of the secret U.S. invasion of Cambodia in 1970.

McCain is right on here. The radical left has never accepted responsibility for their role in allowing that slaughter.

If McCain threw a punch at Buckets Voinovich, I’d stand and applaud.

As is, (and I can so rarely say this that it’s difficult to make my fingers type the words) I’ll give him a big GOOD FOR MCCAIN!

Voinovich, my Senator, is just a gutless cry baby whom will never survive his next primary. McCain should not fight with this nancy cause it’s like fighting with a 12 year old girl.

McCain must not know Voinovich will not be intimidated. He is, afterall, a paper pusher and will push his papers if he wants.

Maybe,
now that it's clear he ain't gonna be the Prez;
McLame will go back to doing what he should be qualified to do - explaining the military, and its use, to the other clods who occupy congress.

It would not make me like the man, it would not validate him as a conservative or as anyone to be trusted, but it might serve some purpose other than bolstering his ego.

And then he went behind closed doors and shitcanned the top guys of his campaign staff....totally unstable.

We need to focus on the big picture -- McManiac is an unstable person.
