Al Qaeda Cell in the U.S. Or On Its Way, According to New Intel (ABC's Brian Ross)(On Drudge)
ABC ^ | July 10, 2007 | Brian Ross

Posted on 07/10/2007 3:33:56 PM PDT by RDTF

Senior U.S. intelligence officials tell ABC News new intelligence from Afghanistan suggests a small al Qaeda cell is on its way to the United States, or may already be here.

The White House has convened an urgent multi-agency meeting for Thursday afternoon to deal with the new threat.

Top intelligence and law enforcement officials have been told to assemble in the Situation Room to report on:

--what steps can be taken to minimize or counter the threat,

--and what steps are being taken to harden security for government buildings and personnel.

"It suggests they have information that the cell or cells coming this direction want to attack a government facility," Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent and ABC News consultant, said.

Law enforcement officials say the recent failed attacks in London have provided important new clues about possible tactics.

And officials say the London attackers use of the Internet left important clues that are being used to decode other e-mails that had initially been deemed unimportant but are now taking on new significance.

The cells are already here, while more are coming
By Walid Phares

*****************************EXCERPT*********************************

The current media rush to interpret what the US Government is releasing in terms of potential infiltration by an al Qaeda cell (or cells) to strike this summer is warranted but still unfocused. ABC News and AP have reported new official "concerns" of an attack on the US homeland this summer. ABC specified that (according to its sources) the Terrorists intend to attack a Government facility. Furthermore, as reported widely in the press, "new intelligence suggests a small al Qaeda cell is on its way to the US, or may already be here." The report added that the White House has convened an urgent multi-agency meeting for Thursday afternoon to address ways to minimize or counter the threat, and steps to harden and protect Government facilities."

The report quoted a former FBI agent (and ABC Terrorism expert) analyzing the potential threat by stating that the target is a Government building. ABC told its viewers that the tactics by the London attackers provided clues that are being used to decode other emails, etc. Even further AP reported that US Counter Terrorism officials have warned that al Qaeda has "interest in attacking in the summer time." Added to this salad of analysis, was the news about a previous video showing a "graduation" by the Taliban in Pakistan. And to season it, two more leads were added: One was the Daily Telegraph story about the 45 doctors who were planning on attacking a US military target in Florida and a Sky News report about British Pastor Canon Andrew White who has said of an April discussion with al Qaeda "representative" who told him "the killing will start in the UK and the US."

So in short, based on these "reports," US media are telling their audiences (from their Government sources) the following:

1. A Graduation has occurred in Pakistan (they showed the footage) and Jihadists are on their way to the West.

2. A Pastor has met an al Qaeda representative who told him operations are underway.

3. American analysts looked at the British Jihadists tactics over the past few weeks and "learned" something new. Something that taught them how to better read information they already had.

5. A media report said 45 doctors were to prepare an attack against a US base.

4. Hence, the conclusion is that a cell, or more, is on their way to the US. And according to a general mood, it was concluded that summers are better for Jihadists to attack.

But if the reader would re-read those five points he/she may ask many troubling questions. I have the following ones:

The UK has only just (amazing) identified student visas as a problem - those who enter on one then never show up for class & disappear. I know it was the same here post 9/11, surely that’s been tightened up ? Surely ?

Still think something like that is more likely, at present, than an illegal crossing from Mexico or Canada.

With our open borders, another terrorist attack is just a matter of time. Too bad our leaders don't want to secure it.

These guys ususally take a long time to plan and strike a target. But they do have supporters and most likely an infrastructure already in place with everything already planned and staged.

Nevermind. It's a cell of Democrats looking for ways to instigate a civil war in the US and a massacre of innocents in Iraq.

Just a hunch...I think the attack will be in NYC, on the subways, this month or next.

I think that would be a tactical error. How much terror would that generate if the majority of Americans thought, "They keeping hitting New York. I don't live there, so I don't care."?

From the website, "Ask the IMam"

Question:

To become a citizen of US one has to take an oath of allegiance. is it ok to take the oath.

The oath of allegiance is as follows: I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God. They also ask on the citizenship form the following questions: If the law requires it, are you willing to bear arms on behalf of US? If the law requires it, are you willing to perform noncombatant service in the US Armed Forces? If the law requires it, are you willing to perform work of national importance under civilian direction?

My question is can we answer yes to these questions? is there anything wrong in doing that. what should the answer be: yes or no? could you please kindly give an urgent answer.

jazakallah

As Muslims, we are duty bound to follow our lives strictly according to Shari’ah. Whatever Shari’ah allows us to do, we will abide by that and whatever Shari’ah has restricted us from, we will refrain from it. Hence, we are not allowed to obey anybody if it is resulting in the disobedience of the Creator, Allah. Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘There is no obedience for the creation by disobeying the Creator.’ (Mirqaat vol.7 pg.217; Imdadiyyah).

Hence, keeping this in mind if one is forced to sign the above in order to become a citizen or the only way of attaining citizenship is by acknowledging the above, then one may sign it with the intention that Shari’ah and Deen will always be his yardstick and that he will never sacrifice any of the teachings of Deen.

"Tarmac? When did they cement over the Rio Grande?"
I believe they signed a short-term lease from the current Mayor import/export expediters of Nuevo Laredo on the small airstrip just north of the I-35 ICE checkpoint.

Call me cynical, but to think we have NOT had al-queda here or some other terrorist cells is stupid. Does the press or the government really think the public is that dumb! All this talk about ‘sleeper cells’ over the years and AQ is only arriving on these shores now?

I am not that dumb, ignorant or stupid. Watching, tracking, connecting dots....they are already here. The question should be, which cell has been ‘activated?’
