"Truth be told" about Chimp-Human DNA comparisons

07/02/07

by David Tyler

"Truth be told" about Chimp-Human DNA comparisons For over 30 years, the public have been led to believe that human and chimpanzee genetics differ by mere 1%. This 'fact' of science has been used on innumerable occasions to silence anyone who offered the thought that humans are special among the animal kingdom. "Today we take as a given that the two species are genetically 99% the same." However, this "given" is about to be discarded....

Not “Darwinists”, “evolutionist”.

Darwin’s postulated that species evolved to adapt to their environment and the longer they stayed there the more adapted they became. Those that could not adapt died off.

Darwin himself did not believe that Man and other species “evolved” from lower life forms.

The humanist rejoiced when they discovered Darwin’s book because they now had a substitute for God. The large scale application of “evolution” as a replacement for Creation did not begin until after Darwin’s death.

I am a Christian and firmly believe in Creation. I also believe in evolution as Darwin originally postulated it.

Adapt or die. Man is the most adaptive creature there is.

I never heard anyone say the difference is as small as 1%. Everything I remember reading put it at around 6%, a figure that agrees with what is cited in this article.

Frankly, I don't understand what the big hubub is. Whether the difference is 1% or 7%, we're still pretty similar. Shrug.

And now that it’s 6%, does it really make all that much of a difference?

Like everything else in these debates, it's as important or irrelevant as you want it to be.

You must have been living under a rock if you do not know the use Liberals make and have always made of the bones scientists dig up. I am heartily sick of archaeologists and others insisting how closely I am related to monkeys...I ain’t and never was. OCEANS of blood separate us from them.

That’s just for starters. The more we learn the greater the differences will be. It should be obvious just in terms of the way we look, act, walk, think, etc. If you read the article, it quotes a darwinian zoologist who admits that they emphasized the 1% myth in order to dupe us into believing that we are far more similar than we actually are. They have known this for quite some time, but it was only until recently that they were willing to let the cat out of the bag. I guess they have come to the conclusion that their myth/lie has accomplished its objective and decided to fess-up before the IDers/Creationists beat them over the head with such an obvious lie.

Sure he did. Go read The Descent of Man.

That’s because it is a 3% difference.

Isn't it strange that they don't give his name?

In my experience, whenever a media outlet quotes an unnamed source, the information usually turns out not to be true.

And frankly, I don't know where this article is getting any of its information. With a layman's interest in evolutionary biology, I read articles on evolution all the time. I've never run across a single article that quotes the "1% myth." Every single article I've read on the subject puts the genetic difference between chimp and man at around 6%.

No, it’s a deliberate lie that they can no longer keep concealed from the public. But the Church of Darwin is perfectly ok with it because the damage has been done:

I was at the Cincinnati Zoo 2 weeks ago with my granddaughters. It is a wonderful zoo, and their primate displays have to be among the best in the country. There, too, I saw the 99% number on one of the information signs.

Obviously, what was inside that habitat display was not a human being. Absolutely no doubt in my mind.

There was some miraculous gulf...perhaps inexplicable at this time, Sister AG. Perhaps it would be best to simply say:

The math was different.

Translation for us lay folks:

“The issue is not that more complex life forms (like humans) have more DNA or different DNA. The real issue is that the DNA of more complex life forms (like humans) use their very similar DNA to do much more complex things. We use pretty much the same DNA to do much more amazing things with RNA and proteins. Kind of like how an ape’s hand looks pretty similar to a human’s but it just doesn’t have the skill to do what humans do.”

The more we learn, the more we realize our ignorance.

Go back and reread the article. The zoologist being quoted and the “1% Myth” is coming straight from an article in Science:

Relative Differences: The Myth of 1%
Jon Cohen
Science 316, 29 June 2007: 1836.

Here’s some more re: the outrage this outright fraud perpetrated by the Church of Darwin has caused in the Creation Science/ID community:

Well, you know, us science folks are born from hell to destroy ancient myths of the world on the back of a turtle.

READ A THIRD GRADE SCIENCE BOOK ALREADY!!! Really, science isn’t that hard to understand.
