Most suicide bombers are Muslim

Suicide missions are not always religiously motivated, but according to Oxford University sociologist Diego Gambetta, editor of Making Sense of Suicide Missions, when religion is involved, the attackers are always Muslim. Why? The surprising answer is that Muslim suicide bombing has nothing to do with Islam or the Quran (except for two lines). It has a lot to do with sex, or, in this case, the absence of sex.

Popular psychology articles generally lack depth. They are written so that they can be discussed under the hair dryer, but fall far short of real insight.
The jihadis have sex. Problem is that they have it with underage children, boys and girls. This abuse causes them psychological problems later in life. When they become adults, they can’t relate to a woman in any normal, decent, male way. Their life on earth is hell, but they “live” for the day when they go to “heaven” and THEN they will have sexual fulfillment.

How does that explain female suicide bombers?

I would be highly skeptical of this analysis, particularly given the lip service to poverty, which has been utterly disproven as a link to terror. Most of the terrorists (including the latest UK bunch are educated and come from middle or higher economic backgrounds).

The one common thread is that they all come from totalitarian states where dissent is not tolerated. Thus, suicide is their only means of protest. (You’ll note none of the bombers have been Turkish - where there has been a democracy since early in the last century). Hence, GWBs mission to bring democracy to the middle east.

Your somewhat crude remark is right on the money - so I'll repeat it: Yes, we just need to get them laid.

I have believed for some time that the primary thing that differentiates Islam from other religions is the level of control that the religious leaders exert on the sexual behavior of their followers. Now this is not unique to Islam as any churchgoer can tell you but the extreme measures that are imposed on those of the Islamic faith are, to say the least, extreme.

This control of sexual behavior represents, IMHO, a denial of the very essence of human nature which can be summed up as (in most but not all cases): Boys like Girls and Girls like Boys. This denial dominates the everyday life of those who live in the Islamic world, basically as a result of the extreme limitations that are placed on the behavior and dress of women. They are basically denied their fundamental right to attract a mate, the very thing that, as we all know, they do so well.

So the bottom line is that I agree with author of the article. You have a bunch of frustrated young men with no access to female companionship and you promise them 72 virgins for ones days work (and incidentally, their life) and you get lots of volunteers. Get them laid and the problem does go away.

What is little known this: if a Muslim dies in an ordinary way (e.g., at home in bed of old age) his soul goes to Barzaq "the Veil" and sits there for ages and ages and ages waiting for the End of the World and Judgment Day, when Allah will weigh the good deeds and the sins of each soul in the scales, and send him to Hell or to Paradise. While in Barzaq, the soul is unsure of his fate, and can do nothing but wait and wait and wait ...

... that is, unless you're a martyr. Martyrs go straight to Paradise. Martyrdom wipes away any and all sin. They skip past Barzaq, go through the express checkout lane, and enter immediately into Paradise, to spend eternity with Allah and the prophets.

That is a huge sales pitch. Frankly, I'm surprised there aren't more takers than we've seen.
