WASHINGTON - Diversity is strength.
That sentiment has emerged in recent years as an article of faith in American public life.
But research suggests that faith in diversity is being sorely tested. New studies confirm earlier evidence that, at least in the short- to mid-term, diversity weakens civic ties, fostering mutual mistrust and detachment. Beneath all the "happy talk" about diversity, many Americans harbor a deep ambivalence about where it will lead.

Put me in the doubtful category. Diversity promotes conflict.
New studies confirm that common sense trumps everything. Of course diversity divides. It does not bring people together. It forces them apart. It does not cause or assist in assimilation. In fact, it makes it easier to remain in a group, rather than proving oneself as an individual.
Cultural diversity and the lack of assimillation that it encourages is the root of most of our problems in America.
I don’t recall the Founding Fathers refering to “Diversity” in any of their writings, but then again they were interested in building a Country not Destroying one.
Two words why:
Bosnia. Hertzegovena.
The current philosophy of “diversity”, is racial separatism.
Diversity divides people it doesn’t create unity. That’s common sense. Sparrows might mingle with doves when there’s food available but the don’t nest with them. Children tolerate friendly adults but they prefer to play with other children.
Exactly. Diversity means white people got theirs now give my group ours.
“Cultural diversity and the lack of assimillation that it encourages is the root of most of our problems in America.”
Bears repeating.
Diversity? Everybody looks different, but thinks alike...
Diversity destroys.
Diversity destroys.
You’ve got that right.
The remarkable thing about the “Tolerant” and their slavish devotion to the “Diversity” myth is how intolerant they are regarding diversity of opinion.
Multiculturalism is the big lie of this century. Denounce it at your peril.
I’ve always said that diversity for diversity’s sake is not a strength.
I do believe that acceptance of diversity is a strength. What that means is that we address each other as individuals, without regard to diverse differences. You know, the best player, the best teacher, the best pilot, no matter what the color.
Because lets face it, diversity only means one thing: skin color.
Assimilation is the correct course.
War is the traditional means whereby different groups interact. The victors assimilate those remaining losers.
None of the preceeding liberal bumper-stickers advocate a 'Diversity' that includes conservatives.
“Diversity is strength” is Orwellian.
In reality, unity is strength.
I am outright hostile.
Almost as hostile as I am to the “Self Esteem” Tripe
E Pluribus Unum. Diversity = E Pluribus Pluribus
(forgive me if my Latin grammar is atrocious)
