Al Gore announced Friday a surprise Live Earth concert in Washington, foiling Senate Republicans who blocked Gore's attempt to bring his global warming extravaganza to the grounds of the U.S. Capitol.

The former vice president said the all-day "Mother Earth" concert would be held on the National Mall at the National Museum of the American Indian—about two blocks from the Capitol—as part of Saturday's concert series focused on climate change. The headliners are Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.

I’ll be firing up my barbecue, and cooking tasty critters,

Barbecued spotted owl breast with some snail-darter sauce for me, please.

I’ll be firing up my barbecue, and cooking tasty critters, and driving my gas guzzling SUV all weekend in honor of the concert.

I'm going to mow my lawn. Twice. Each day.

I think Garth has been smoking with Willie a little too often.

With Al Gore hosting they should call it “Live Girth”.

Friends in Oklahoma tell me that good ole Garth was horndogging it plenty - long before he booted the Mrs. for aging Tricia. He made his pile of dough and is enjoying it now. Never did think he had all that much grey matter.

Quite disappointing that these two starts have chosen to become Mother Earth-worshipers. All these concerts are are examples of extreme idol worship - one of the things that brought Israel to destruction.

Spinal Tap will certainly give Live Earth a lot of credibility.

Maybe we cannot directly change their politics, but we don’t have to support them with our $$ either.

“When Garth left Sandy that was it for me”

I agree, but how about Vince divorcing his wife and marrying amy? I condem Garth Brooks but I make excuses all over the place for Vince.

True. In this particular case, I won’t be watching anyway — can’t and won’t. So I’ll be doing my part. :)
