“You think Fred Thompson is an ACTOR? Now that has ME rolling around laughing. Have you actually seen him act? He’s a worse actor than John Wayne!”

Ya got me ... I’ve noticed that the really good actors are all liberals and the conservatives in Hollywood are so-so one dimensional actors (magnum PI, anyone?). I heard that kevin Costner was a Republican, which fits the mold, he’s the best bad actor in hollywood since Gary Cooper.

IMHO Fred Thompson was/is no worse than Reagan as an actor. Fred basically plays himself, a man of gravitas and authority, eg Die hard II.

Now, riddle me this: Can Fred Thompson play the barnstorming energetic candidate who wows crowds and get Americans thinking conservative Republican thoughts before November 2008? That’s a role I’d give him, *IF* he can live up to it.

Unfortunately, Novak is hardly a reliable or unbiased source.

Boy does Gore look young in that shot!

I really think Gore has a stress-metabolism problem: 1)get under the gun or depressed or angry, 2) the metabolism shuts down, and 3) fat gets packed on very quickly. This is especially if you don't zero out all high-glycemic index foods. And that fat is of a type very dangerous for your heart.

Gore is a corrupt lying dangerous twit, and is polluting minds with his Global Warming mantra - but I hope he gets his health back in line, along with his mind.....

LOL, Romney is the most geniune person (eg lives family values doesnt just talk it) with the most *non*political accomplishments of any of the candidates - in both parties.

Romney's also another one of those political dynasty candidates -- his dad was governor and ran for president, his mom ran for the US senate, his brother Scott ran for Michigan attorney general, and Romney himself ran for the senate before he ran for governor.

After the Bushes and the Kennedys and the Gores and the Clintons and the Chafees and the Rockefellers (and the Caseys here in PA), I think a whole lot of people are getting awfully sick of these "born into the political aristocracy" crap. Mitt's private sector accomplishments are a point in his favor, but his dynasty to me is a big mark against him.

To clarify my previous remarks: 1) I believe Romney has the resume, the personality, and the appeal to independents to go against Hillary. 2) The party is in disarray. It will take an unusually strong candidate to win in ‘08. If we are going to lose, I’d rather lose with an appealing, relatively young candidate (the Kennedy factor) who can attract new voters and lead the party than with an older candidate with no new ideas. 3) Other than being an actor, I don’t see the “wow” factor for Fred. Again, if he is nominated, I will support him, but I’ll be very bored. It tells me the Republican party has run out of ideas.

Novak has great sources inside the beltway, but he has long since lost his ability to discern reality outside of the beltway.

I agree. If you want to know how Congress is going to vote, Novak's your man. If you want to know how the American people are going to vote, look elsewhere.

“I just don’t believe in his conservative evolution. If he had waited ten years to run and gotten heavily involved in the conservative movement like Reagan, it would be different.”

There hasn’t been much of an evolution. Romney has always been conservative. He’s been getting smeared since last year by the Boston Globe for his supposed “liberal” positions back in the 90’s and apparently those smears have been internalized by many.

Back when people say he was pro choice, even thought he said he rejected the pro choice label at the time, he was collecting endorsements from the local NRLC affiliate and just about every pro life group in Mass. He said he wouldn’t try to change the status quo on abortion and now says he was wrong in that regard.

It’s funny that he simultaneously gets fire for being pro choice and for being a pro life extremist:

It’s all about disinformation at this point..
