Don't look too happy, do they?
A) Bush drove the nail in himself. He didn't need any help. Indeed, blaming conservative Republicans for Bush's political fallout is the same kind of inane logic that got the Republicans put into the minority in 06. It's always someone else's fault.
B) The [lunatic] idea that offically open borders and amnesty for 12 million illegals was somehow going to get Democrat hispanics to vote Republican is beyond bizzare. It is an indication of delusions so great that one has to doubt whether the proponents of such nonsense are even partially grounded in reality. It is so goofy that I can't even think of a suitable analogy.
I wonder which of the consevative Republicans who stuck with the president on this bill Novak spoke to. I thought only rino's voted for the illegals.
It's a good thing when career politicians are reminded who is really in charge in this country. The smart ones need only an occasional gentle reminder. The arrogant ones require a swift Size 14 inserted intrarectally. This issue of who's in charge very definitely did not end with the defeat of this lamentable piece of legislation. Certain members of the Ruling Class are going to be looking for work and one of mine will be one of them.
Thank God for Sen. Jim DeMint and Sen. Sessions and others. God Bless America!
The only way the GOP will win those votes is by sticking to its core principles. Hispanics will vote for Republicans if they prosper and find themselves with something to protect from Democratic avarice. The GOP can put them into that position by reducing the size and scope of government, by cutting taxes, and by basically getting Washington DC out of the People's way. Pandering to the leftist elements within the Hispanic community, however, will not win those votes.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then John Bergstrom sums it up nicely with this. Poor, uneducated immigrants have no reason whatsoever to vote for Republicans. We didn't lose anything with the defeat of the amnesty bill.
We know that politicians don't like confrontation from voters. We need them to feel mighty uncomfortable whenever they refuse to do their jobs.
We also need to go local. Put heat on our town councils and county commissions. Let's start calling in all zoning violations, illegal loiterers, parking and traffic violations. Make sure that the cops have the authority to ask for legal status. Demand that the local politicians know your feelings about goat slaughtering and 15 men living in a single family house.
Call the local radio stations when there is a meeting with time and date. A group of upset voters will be taken seriously. Let people know which council members won't do anything. Remind people that nothing will get better if they sit home and accept illegal crap.

I guess they won’t be at the “signin”.
