Novak is precisely the sort of inside-the-Beltway mouthpiece that has turned that entire subculture into one gigantic echo chamber. One sign that the occupants have grown out of touch with their constituents is the ease with which the Novaks convinced the Powers That Be that this bill was a good idea and that they could force it down the country's collective throat because gosh darn it, they just know what's best.

It's a good thing when career politicians are reminded who is really in charge in this country. The smart ones need only an occasional gentle reminder. The arrogant ones require a swift Size 14 inserted intrarectally. This issue of who's in charge very definitely did not end with the defeat of this lamentable piece of legislation. Certain members of the Ruling Class are going to be looking for work and one of mine will be one of them.
