Chertoff: We can't really enforce laws on illegals
World Net Daily ^ | 7/1/07 | World Net Daily

Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff is blasting the U.S. Senate for failing to pass an immigration bill, and claims the federal government doesn't have the ability to enforce laws when it comes to illegals working in America.

"We're going to continue to enforce the law. It's going to be tough," Michael Chertoff said. "We don't really have the ability to enforce the law with respect to illegal work in this country in a way that's truly effective."

Skeletor and just about every dept. head in Homeland Security are incompetent political hacks. Which shouldn't’t surprise us, since the Chief Incompetent Political Hack selected them.

So if 10 million Americans suddenly decided not pay income taxes, the government would agree not to enforce the law?

Oh wait, that is Reveune to the State. Horsewhip the offenders.

"Do you seriously think the voters need to see video of a Republican administration arresting and deporting Hispanics in the middle of the night?"

No - but I think the voters would enjoy seeing the guys that hire these illegals get rounded up and put in jail!

If Chertoff really believes this, he should resign and let someone else enforce the law.

Right on. Let's use his own words to get his a** out of there!!!

President Bush, replace Chertoff!!!!!!

It is difficult to determine which is the more incompetent, AG Alberto or HSD Sec Miguel.

==

Since Chertoff apparently can’t handle the job, maybe should seek retirement and resign.

I'm not speechless.

I think anyone who claims they cannot do their job better make a shopping list of what they need and get after it, or resign and let someone else do what they can/will not.

I heard that they are moving the DHS HQ to part of the (former) grounds of St Elizabeth's...Small wonder.

We become a nation of scofflaws. Choose which laws to obey and don’t prosecute in court those who violate them.

Identity theft, non-payment of taxes, smuggling, illegal border crossing. What is a little drug use, assault, rape, vote fraud, etc. on top of that?

This will “all change” once they are able to step out of the shadows, right?

And suddenly we WILL be able to enforce the immigration laws for everyone who tries to come over after Jan1 2007, RIGHT?

If we “can’t” enforce the laws now, how are reforms supposed to lead to SUDDEN enforcement?

Then we will elect people that can!

what if there were 12 million
terrorists in the country - would we enforce the laws then, or just run up the white flag?

Maybe we should import someone to just do the job Chertoff doesn’t want to. Mexico doesn’t have a problem with illegal immigrants.

Rubbish. All we have to do is make it uncomfortable for them to stay.

Conduct all official business in English.

Stop giving them drivers' licenses.

Deny them any type of public assistance whatever, except emergency medical treatment.

Deny them standing to bring any type of claim in American courts.

Immediately deport, without a hearing, any illegal who comes to the attention of law enforcement.

Sentence those who who violate deportation orders or commit any type of identity theft and fraud (including presenting false IDs to any law enforcement agency, financial institution or employer) to hard labor working on the wall.

Deny them the opportunity to EVER apply for US citizenship.

In short, keep them living in fear and uncertainty about their future, and then watch how many start leaving on their own, or think twice about coming in the first place.

I grow a bit tired of hearing what we can't do. You have to try, really try, and might just be surprised at what 'WE' can do.

“...disband his department ...”

Good solution. We do not need him or the dept he heads. Just an expensive addition to the bureaucracy. Stop illegal alien invaders at the border. Deport all of them already here. Jail CEO’s of companies who hire them.

“Do you seriously think the voters need to see video of a Republican administration arresting and deporting Hispanics in the middle of the night?”

After shouting “HELL YES,” it occurs to me to wonder why it would be done in the middle of the night?

I still like the dsc plan. Arrest them, and sentence them to community service: cleaning the roadside from wherever they’re arrested to the Mexican border, in leg irons, sleeping in tents, subsisting on bread and water, and guarded by men on horseback with shotguns.

Do that once or twice, and then be careful not to get trampled as the illegals race for home.

I think it’s time to disband his department and put the money into border control.

Yup...
