PHONE-CALL MUTINY; HOW CITIZENS FELLED THE BORDER BILL (gov't OF, BY and FOR the people prevailed)
NY POST ^ | June 30, 2007 | RICH LOWERY

Posted on 06/30/2007 5:23:48 AM PDT by Liz

BEWARE of an aroused citizenry. It's an admonition that should be ingrained in the brain of any run-of-the-mill politician, let alone someone who has ascended to the United States Senate. But from the Olympian heights of the world's greatest deliberative body, it is often forgotten. So senators got a reminder in the humiliating defeat of a "comprehensive" immigration bill that had the support of the president of the United States, a bipartisan group of senators with the blessing of the leaders of their caucuses and the support of the editorial boards of the country's most important newspapers.

If you don’t mind- It might help us to also thank the Almighty for this victory for which many of us prayed. We’ll need that kind of help in the future.

You are right. I believe many of us prayed that day.

I don't believe God can kill the bill, but I believe our prayers were answered by being awakened from our deep sleep, we quit blindly trusting those who are on the wrong side.

That is the way I see our prayers being answered. We were shown that we will be forever doomed if we allow ourselves to give up the fight.

The fight is still on!

We win. For now. But Jorge Bushwiski and his loving pals in the Marxists Dimocrat People’s Socialist Abortion Party, will be back for more. Count on it. We will have to fight this battle again soon.

the house got the total bejeezus scared out of them

For sure.

I thought it ironic and a signal that the Senate and White House should have recognized when the House voted a resolution to oppose the Senate bill, even before the Senate bill was finally voted on.

Talk about raising a red flag!

And then the House vote overwhelmingly to can any FCC Fairness Doctrine implementation.

They heard the voice of the people.

They may grow deaf again, so we still have to remain vigilant (I like using that word--makes me feel kindred to The Minutemen).

Liz, hyphenates is a great word. I have been tired of the hyphenated - American term for years. Good word picture, and excellent post.

I wrote this piece a while back.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1838985/posts

Senators’ “implicit axiom , ‘Trust us’” was met with a well earned, resounding rebuke. Americans don’t trust Capitol Hill, the institution. One or two Senators on one or two issuse - maybe. But as an institution of government, Capitol Hill has to execute and enforce current law and prove a record of determination before America’s Patriots will “trust” them again.

“..Americans are loudly and clearly sending the Senate and other Legislators of both parties a uniform message: ‘We simply do not trust you.’”

THAT is funny. And sad. He probably also reports to his

Was very important to itemize the list for future reference——like at election time. LOL.

"We must stay vigilant."

And when it comes to preserving America's sovereignty, we don't mind being called "vigilantes".

I agree with you 1000%. People need to reclaim their power and stop accepting bad sit5uations perpetuated by government failure. Whining is not enough. For instance, the minutemen have demonstrated how people power can patrol the border and even build the fence. Why don’t people get on their bandwagon and make it happen. Let the politicos go to cocktail parties.

Thanks——using “hyphenates” as a noun always gets a great response.

Proves that we still have a democracy, in spite of the fascists in government (senate, house, state legislatures).
Keep calling! The bastards have to listen to us!

This was, still, barely for or by the people. Look how many in Congress still presume to know and have decided to simply mandate to the people, not according to the peoples wishes.

Agree. When G. K. Chesterton was asked about our Judeo-Christian heritage about 100 plus years ago, he responded “I do not understand how anyone can worship a hyphen.”

The American people are the new “sleeping giant”. We woke up and our force was felt by Congress. We can’t go back to sleep. Hopefully this action will energize us to be more involved in how this country is run. After immigration, lets move on to taxes and government waste!

........some senators were “scared” because of all the opposition to amnesty............

Well, boo-----frickin'---hoo.

It's about time they felt the wrath of the people.

If our so-called leaders will not remember the lessons of American history, we will have to remind them.
