PHONE-CALL MUTINY; HOW CITIZENS FELLED THE BORDER BILL (gov't OF, BY and FOR the people prevailed)
NY POST ^ | June 30, 2007 | RICH LOWERY

Posted on 06/30/2007 5:23:48 AM PDT by Liz

BEWARE of an aroused citizenry. It's an admonition that should be ingrained in the brain of any run-of-the-mill politician, let alone someone who has ascended to the United States Senate. But from the Olympian heights of the world's greatest deliberative body, it is often forgotten. So senators got a reminder in the humiliating defeat of a "comprehensive" immigration bill that had the support of the president of the United States, a bipartisan group of senators with the blessing of the leaders of their caucuses and the support of the editorial boards of the country's most important newspapers.

The demise of amnesty means government OF, BY and FOR the people prevailed. Illegal border-crossers arrogantly assumed they were in control of OUR government, that they would prevail, and that they and their hyphenated groups would takeover OUR country.

Burying amnesty wiped the smiles off the faces of the grinning invaders. How dare these hyphenates tell us how to run OUR country? They dare to violate our country’s borders, laws, and national security, then demand taxpayers subsidize their every need.

These treacherous illegal invaders are here solely to undermne the US---financially, socially and politically.

American taxpayers are sick and tired of being pawns for hyphenates with self-esteem problems. The con game involves money-hungry types with a grudge against humanity. They hyphenate their origins, and become “voting blocs” for pandering politicians. The hyphenates bleed American taxpayers dry for one idiotic scheme after another.

Americans have had it with these "hyphenated-supremacists" who get more rights than taxpayers. We are being suckered into footing the bills for these hyphenated jerks with no self-esteem. It's high time we send these hyphenated parasites back where they came from.

The corrupt Mexican gov't should mind their own business and stick to policing their southern border. Hyphenates from Central America, and beyond, better stop invading us...........or else.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it is buryed. It will rise again. We must stay vigilant.

It marks the end of an era. In the old days, when the elites and the MSM wanted something, it was a fait accompli. No longer. The synergistic power of the Internet, the blogs and the old fashioned phone changed every thing. For the first time, ordinary people had a collective power the elites couldn't withstand. As a result of the defeat of the amnesty bill, American politics will never be the same again.

Or maybe more like it was a couple of hundred years ago :)

Well said. I loved the last line...
Senators should get used to it, and buy more phone lines.
They're gonna need 'em!

It won't "rise" again, it will slither in small pieces into other bills trying to disguise it. This is where we must be vigilant and skeptical. I do not trust that bunch on the Hill. We need to be putting pressure on them to start earning our trust again by doing what they've said (as in current law) to enforce the law.

it is a wonderous thing that the People of the US have spoken clearly and that the People were able to save the nation when the jorge bush/fat ted and the supposed representatives were ready to surrender to the illegal invading hordes and destroy the nation!!!!

You are correct. I’d forget about all the self-congratulations and backslapping for now and realize that they’ll try to shove this through a back door and, of course, they will continue to obstruct enforcement of existing law.

The illegal problem will continue as it has been without change.

Good rant Liz. I agree completely with your reply.

I call hyphenates “half-Americans”. I am simply a whole American. We need fewer of the former, & more of the latter.

from the Olympian heights of the world's greatest deliberative body

I wish people would quit using this pompous self-description. The United States Senate stands revealed, if one didn't already know it, as a venal, corrupt, unprincipled, anti-democratic gang of usurpers.

Consider the leaders, of both parties--Reid, Lott, McConnell, Durbin--and the "deans" of the senate--Byrd and Kennedy. I rest my case.

It won't "rise" again, it will slither in small pieces into other bills trying to disguise it.
As I've stated many times...many of the items proposed in the "comprehensive" bill already had bills waiting for action.
For almost everything proposed there is already a standing bill.
Take the DREAM Act, for example. There is a stand alone bill for that. Just go look it up at Thomas.
Improvements to the EEVS, more unmanned airplanes...much, much more.

I’m hoping that next election we can get Pat Toomey to run against Specter again.

Having Specter is like having a Dem Senator.
