A Butte County jury has found a Gridley supermarket not liable to pay civil damages to an illegal alien who slipped and fell on a grape inside the store.
The plaintiff, who suffered a fractured kneecap in the incident, had sought over $400,000 through her lawyer for past and future medical expenses, and pain and suffering.
The jury was not specifically told the shopper was an illegal alien, only that she "couldn't legally work in this country."
Superior Court Judge Barbara Roberts read a stipulation to that effect to the jury after the woman's San Francisco attorney, Rafael Crespo Jr., had asked her on the witness stand whether the reason that she couldn't pay her medical bills was because she couldn't work.

Hmmm...maybe this is a sign that even some of the lawyers/judges
have had enough of the whining and b-tchin’ of the ILLEGAL immigrants.
That shouldn’t even be in the country in the first place!

What is particularly gratifying is that plaintiff’s counsel was almost certainly representing the illegal on a contingency fee basis.
No payday for him.

They shouldn't have any access to our court system.
How dare they break our laws and then demand to be protected or rewarded by the our laws!!!

I wonder why her status as an illegal was not brought up. I think it would have been interesting to raise the defense that she was not on the premises legally, and was a trespasser to whom no duty of care was owed. probably prior rulings that disallowed that, though.

Kinda looks like he was trying to get the money "because she couldn't work", and was hoping people would assume it was because of the accident.
I knew someone who suffered the same "grievous" injury. She was the mother of a friend, and was old, in her 80's. The store paid for her doctor visit, and she was fine. A slip and a fall and a slight injury should not set one up for life, illegal alien or no.
To: MassRepublicanFlyersFan
had asked her on the witness stand whether the reason that she couldn't pay her medical billsSince when has any illegal paid their medical bills.
