Sue Wilkinson, 53, a university professor, was married for 17 years before the relationship ended in divorce.
She has now been with her female partner, Celia Kitzinger for the same length of time.
The couple married in 2003 in Canada, where same-sex unions are legal. Last year they lost a High Court battle to have their marriage recognised in Britain.
Ms Wilkinson, Professor of Feminist and Health Studies at Loughborough University, said: I was never unsure about my sexuality throughout my teens or 20s. I was a happy heterosexual and had no doubts. Then I changed, through political activity and feminism, spending time with womens organisations. It opened my mind to the possibility of a lesbian identity.

My sister too.
Two of her kids speak to her once in a while, the other has nothing to do with her.

When you have as lib dudes as a pool to choose from, it's not surprising most lib chicks wind up as lesbians.
Think about it: If all you had to choose from is some long-haired, whiny, soy-eating, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, soap-loathing, Che Guevara T-shirt-wearing radical, chicks would look better and better every day.
Sue should've hooked up with a cowboy, a soldier, or oilfield trash.

To be fair, I know quite a few conservative beta-male types. They talk a mean game about rugged individualism and know all the lines, but in truth they whine about how affirmative action derailed their lives, how women suck, and they lament the basic unfairness of life.
I don’t think conservative women have it all that much easier, sorry.

BS! Unless she was the paycheck in the house, he was glad to be rid of her.
Typical Lesbian delusion. My sister tried to tell us that she slept with her ex-hubby at my nieces graduation party. The pity of it is that all of us knew he was seeing his future wife.

Well, it was Obama’s political activism that turned a half-white man into a black, so I guess it’s possible.
