Did you listen to Larry Elder's debate with Rantel? (Vanity)

Did you listen to the debate between Larry Elder and Al Rantel on KABC radio? About illegal immigration...

Elder said that US needed a guest worker program like the one during 1940s. Rantel thought that such a program would not work. Rantel asked what if the guest workers refused to go back to their country...Elder stated that the employers should make sure that the workers leave. (Rantel was not sure about that.)

Elder stated that feds should use the resources wisely. He was speaking about the federal raids on big companies hiring illegals. Elder stated that feds should concentrate on hunting down terrorists like Fort Dix ones.

Rantel pointed out that many illegals, at those big companies, used other people's social security numbers. Elder acknowledged that. But, he stated that illegals were only trying to get jobs...

Rantel got upset...He stated that using other people's social security number is a serious crime. He mentioned the case of one Northen CA lady whose social security number was "stolen". Rantel stated that maybe Elder should announce the latter's social security number on the air...

I am sure Elder will discuss the debate on his show Friday. Indeed, I am disappointed with him on the immigration issue.

Most criminals are “only trying to...” get something they want, whether they are entitled to it or not.

Murderers are only trying to ...
Rapists are only trying to...
Thieves are only trying to...

Disgusting (lack of) reasoning

If private citizens and companies are going to be compelled to enforce the laws of the land we are going to require the ability to arrest, detain and use deadly force if necessary. Just a thought...try not to spew coffee on your keyboard...

I can’t listen to Larry on this issue anyone. He’s lost all credibility. All of a sudden Mr. Libertarian trusts Big Government to handle all these massive changes? Please.

BTW, I did start to listen but it became difficult. When Larry gets worked up he talks over people incessantly, leaving Al to have to really work to get his points in. My head started to hurt after awhile so I tuned out.

Yup. He won’t let anybody have their say, he just talks over them over and over... plus, he stutters quite a bit.

Shrub could say the sky was yellow and Larry would agree. Not only would he agree, he’d hopelessly ridicule anybody who said otherwise.

The United States currently has about eight different “guest worker” programs. Some are very limited, but others can be almost as large as a company wants to set up and sponsor for seasonal work where the workers are registered and return home at the end of the seasonal work period involved.

Within these programs there are measures to protect US Immigration issues, US law and also the workforce.

Many illegal aliens avoid them as they want free access, free services, and to come and go as they please working or not and with companions or family members of their choice.

Bullcrap! If you’re in a store and see someone shoplifting or pickpocket someone, do you remain quiet? If you tell the authorities, do you consider that enforcement? And if the government can decide which laws to enforce or ignore, are you going to give that choice to the citizens?
