If you don’t want Hillary to win, do NOT vote for Rudy in the primaries. We values voters will NOT vote for partial-birth infanticide Rudy, and there are megamillions of us.

And Rudy will NOT be good at fighting the WOT. That is a false PERCEPTION. Rudy is pro-ILLEGAL immigration.

Border security = National security!

See you at the primaries, sir/ma’am, and I hope you vote for a pro-life, conservative.

“Detractors consistently hope to lump Pro-life into a list with other issues. We find ourselves digging that out of the list and shouting, it is not one of a list, it is CORE!

I beware of any who relegate and devalue this Core value to a list.”

The way Mark Levin puts it, conservatism is a way of life, and that includes the social conservatives issues, as well as the fiscal conservative issues, etc.

Rudy is against the 2nd amendment, is pro-abortion, including pba, pro-illegal immigration, pro-special rights for gays, etc. - in short, he is a LIBERAL. He really belongs in the Dem Party, and is just using Republicans.

That's the second time you've dodged. I like Russell Kirk too, and I don't remmebr him ever saying anything like "If you can't overcome them with truth, baffle them with BS."

Either give me a reason a conservative should support a New York liberal or go away.

You have defined Rudy Giuliani as a liberal, not I. By the way Kirk also said it was best to use "conservative" as an adjective not a noun. He also said if you thought you were a conservative you were one--it was a self determined reliance on underlying principles. He also said being a conservative did not imply a religion or an ideology.

The majority of posters on FR who label themselves as "conservative" are indeed so by self-definition but they are also single (or a few social) issue, litmus test Republicans.

If you have three or four issues that define your position--abortion, guns, homosexual marriage and religious belief you have limited your repertoire to non-economic and non-constitutional areas of discourse.

As far as questions, it is important to remember Fritz Perls's famous dictum, "a question is the hook of a demand..." This is the weakest form of argumentation, but can be easily cleared up by asking the questioner to turn the question into a statement. In this instance the underlying purpose of the question will become immediately apparent. The above reason is why psychotherapists, and especially psychologists and psychiatrists, often either don't answer questions, return with a question or otherwise not cooperate with the typical gamey question.

A good example of questions is the husband that does not come home a 9:00 p.m. as promised, but rather returns after 3:00a.m. The wife may ask, "Where were you?" But she better served by changing her question into a statement such as, "...I was worried you were in an accident last night...I was worried about your being with some other woman..." or whatever is bothering her. In this fashion she will get a response, but it will not be based on defensiveness or being under the gun of an implied criticism.

Finally, if you don't like my posts, scroll by. I plan to do so with yours.

See post #64. You are defining “conservative” as a noun and by the assumption that this definition requires the litmus tests you have decided upon.

I didn’t add the litmus test, I was challenging the lumping of Fred w/ Rudy in the pro-abortion crowd.

I'm not thrilled about Rudy---he won't sign the no-new-taxes pledge, his phone call during the NRA speech was a rude and stupid, his tolerance of gay marriage is intolerable, his stem cell stance is predictably wrong, and adding abortion to the list is literally overkill. However....

THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION IS---WHO CAN BEAT HILLARY?

Whether Kirk advanced the idea or not, there is no real, point to having a definition of conservative that allows a guy to describe himself as such when he is one of the nation's foremost opponents of 2nd Amendment and a fierce proponent of child murder. It's like having a definition of "Christian" that includes the Dalai Lama and Carl Sagan, just because they're nice guys like some Christians are. And certainly, if they called themselves Christians without changing their beliefs, it would no make them Christians, even if they were "using the word as an adjective." It's like saying one can call himself "strong" and it's true for them as long as they think it's true...even if they can't bench press 50 pounds and get winded walking across the living room.

There's no amount of doublespeak you can post here that will make Hizzoner the Sow's Ear into Hizzoner the Silk Purse.

THE ESSENTIAL QUESTION IS---WHO CAN BEAT HILLARY?

One has to ask...why does anyone think running a gungrabbing pro-abortion extremist from New York against a gungrabbing pro-abortion extremist from New York is a good idea, much less our only hope?

Any of them can beat Hillary, except for Rudy (because mega millions of values voters and other strong conservatives will vote 3rd party, or stay home) or Ron Paul (because he is way out there on some of the issues).

I repeat - ANYBODY BUT RUDY or RON PAUL can beat Hillary. She is NOT LIKED!!!!

Let’s not panic folks!

Go to the primaries and elect a CONSERVATIVE.

I can only hope that her negatives stay strong. Latest polling info has her back in favor with blacks and all women of all ages.

We can only pray that the people who see things in absolute terms of right and wrong, black and white, finally see through the schism that is being created to minimize her negatives and send that absolutely evil team back into the White House. They are truly vile.

She has to get the men to vote for her, too.

And I’m one woman who won’t vote for her, nor will a friend of mine who happens to be a Black woman.

It’s really too early to take the polls seriously, anyway.
