This it the most factual comment about the immigration bill I've read. I propose that a pro-inforcement group like the Minute Men start a rewards fund for whistle blowers. The HR staff at most companies are the ones with the goods on how hiring laws are skirted. We need to get them to come forward!

How many of you out there know of companies that have dozens of illegal workers on the payroll. What will it take to bring these companies to justice?

If enough CEO’s are seen taken away in hand-cuffs companies across America will take a second look at their work force. It will take insiders to point the fingers and dig up evidence to go after these bastards that have sold out american jobs.

It is just not companies, I agree they hire lots of illegals, but many illegals work for family members, or are in business for themselves, and have a net work of workers who are illegals and they are working, without taxes paid, or any form of identification needed.. paid in cash and they are happy..skirting every law we have

Other than for show-boating or necessary photo-ops, we probably won't see much enforcement.

Now that the Comprehensive Latin American Relocation & Enrichment Act of 2007 is dead, I do hope to see some piecemal enforcement legislation brought up and passed.

I liked the amendment that would require illegals to leave the country in order to apply for the program.

Yes, we must make everyone aware that illegal jobs are the root of the problem.

Below is a link to join a ping list to keep the presure on the politicians. We should continue insisting the current immigration laws are enforced including deporting all illegal aliens, building the fence and prosecuting companies who do business with illegal aliens.

The IRS has lists of all duplicate social security numbers used by employers. THEY WON’T TURN IT OVER TO I.C.E.

Pressuring politicians to enforce the existing immigration laws and reporting any companies known to be doing business with illegal aliens.

This is exactly how the invasion can be battled! How do you think they get here--why do they seem to know each other at the Home Depot? Often you get illegals from specific areas of Mexico--brought in with a carefully organized (be cell phone) network.

Here's how it works IN MY TOWN. There's a big "Iglesia Bautista Evangelista" in your neighborhood, too--it's a waystation and organizational outpost given a lot of free reign because it fronts as a church. The preacher is likely a Godfather-esque "padron" who coordinates jobs, housing, registering for school--and knows all the crooked contractors.

He's practically the Mayor. Investigate HIM, and you've got the whole wad.

We may not be able to get them all. But there has to be a starting point that has teeth. Slapping a small fine on Tyson and Cargill and whoever is not doing the job, obviously.

Enforcing the law starts with the most obvious violations by employers. Weeding the patch is a slow process. Yanking out the big weeds is the place to start. Then the patch of weeds gradually gets smaller.
There are too many people willing to concede that the task is monumental. So they do nothing and the task remains.
Make no excuses. Enforcement of the current law would have prevented this whole problem from becoming so big and seemingly complicated.

You're right. I'm having some stucco work done on my house soon, and I've already told my contractor (a very honest and ethical man) to be sure he doesn't hire any illegals for the job. I'm sure it will cost me more, but it'll be worth it.

Polititians that are supported by companies with large illegal workforces are just as guilty as the CEO’s of those companies. Where’s Judicial Watch on this issue?

It is just not company employers who are thumbing their noses at the law regarding hiring illegals. Most towns have a street corner, a building or even a local supported gathering place where anyone can stop by and pick up a day laborer. No one is trying to get rid of those places or practices. WE all have to get serious about hiring illegals if this problem is going to be solved. I think, though that a few top Exec’s of large companies doing the ‘perp’ walk the way they did with the Enron, et.al, groups would put a little more fear and backbone in our laws regarding the employment of illegals....

Go into any new home subdivision under construction and check out the subcontractors. Should be easy pickens for an astute ICE investigator.

Do you want to know what will clear up this problem in short order?

Allowing private competing businesses and American legal residents seeking work in a particular industry to sue for damages those businesses who compete unfairly by hiring illegal workers.

Damages will be presumed by the mere fact that a business is operating using illegals. In other words, a business or individual would not, under my proposal, need to actually prove exactly how much they or their business were harmed by the illegals-using business. The amount of damages needs to be enough to incentivize other businesses and workers to collect evidence and go to the trouble of proving their case, and enough to punish illegals-using businesses so that managers will want to avoid that expense.

Businesses today are exposed to lawsuits if they don't hire someone because that person is a racial minority or has a disability. We need to expose businesses to similar lawsuits for hiring illegal workers.

The Open Borders Crowd wants ZERO enforcement. If they agree to it, they're not sincere about it. This whole debate was a sham.

Like our President. I got so mad every time I heard him state, “We can’t deport 12 million.” It is more like 20 million and we won’t have to deport them is they can’t find employment!

I’m all for punishing employers. But until we develop a system that is secure and that can’t be counterfeited, then punishing employers who try to do the right thing is counter productive. If this government would allow employers to access the SS system to verify numbers given, little can be done. This Govt. needs a tamper proof system, handled by an outside private company like Am.Express that can issue temp. work visas, that can keep tract of people, then any form of temp. work visa’s will not work. Those employers who know that they are hiring illegals with forged documents need the book thrown at them.
