They ar escared to let anyone see it because they know it’s a bad bill. So bad that doing nothing would be better.
There is no excuse for votes in favor of this process - it is undemocratic, it is unfair and it tells you everything you need to know about the strength of this bill if light is allowed to shine on it...
::::::
Get the list of names. This is criminal.
You know, apart from the merits of the bill (which are awful) the procedures they are using to ram it through are totally disgraceful.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Ok...I admit to being puzzled.
I was not aware there was ANOTHER cloture vote tomorrow. Can you or someone explain this?
George Bush should sit down and read this thing he is so proud of to the American public.
How can elected elected official, a representative of the people, vote for, in good conscience, a bill that they have not even had an opportunity to see? Not being able to read the language should be reason enough not to vote for it. What good is voting if you don’t know what it is you’re voting for? Makes a mockery of the whole idea of representative government.
What’s everyone so upset about? After all this is now the most ethical Congress in history as promised by the leadership when they started. Why should we “little people” worry about such details when our betters know whats best for us. If it weren’t so then “watch dogs of democracy”, our media, would be screaming about this process. So just get yourself another glass of white wine and watch a rerun of “Friends” or maybe “Sienfeld” and don’t worry about it.
Well, now I see!! So the President wasn’t lying when he said we hadn’t read the bill. Of course he left out the reason we haven’t read the bill is because they hadn’t finished it yet and released it!!!!
And still he’d sign the damn thing!!
As much as I once respected and loved him, I now disrespect and despise him. Quite a feat for that man to pull off.
This is not much different that what Reid did a few weeks ago with the last attempt.
Kennedy had the only copy of the 2007 bill, apparently. Reid and Co were using the 2006 bill as prop. Reid was trying to push for the vote (on 2006 as stand-in for 2007). They said they would substitute the 2006 out and insert the 2007 later.
Sessions balked and confronted Reid. Sessions demanded to have a copy of the 2007 text before voting.
Reid had to capitulate and that resulted in delaying the vote for several days.
Kennedy did not release the contents of 2007 until the wee hours of a Saturday. The Heritage Foundation managed to get a rough draft of the 2007 text and post it on the Internet. That was the first anyone outside the Grand Bargain group saw contents of the 2007.
