In a just concluded House GOP Conference voted 114 to 23 to reject the Senate's Amnesty Bill.
Pelosi has now signaled that the House will start fresh on the Amnesty Bill and will not just embrace the Senate version.
It looks like, in fact, the House will . . . dare we say it . . . have committee hearings on the bill.

Expect an instant citizenship bill to come out of the House.

There’s a wing of the republican party that thinks it has no need for security conservatives and social conservatives. They are sadly mistaken.
If they break up Reagan’s coalition, then they will doom the party to a generation of liberal rule....which could be their intention. Their motto: better a degenerate liberal than a damned Christian conservative.

Pelosi put out the word weeks ago that she would not consider the Senate bill unless Bush could guarantee at least 70 votes.
23 in the GOP caucus indicates GW has allot of arm-twisting and pork dangling to reach the magic 70.

In the Senate.
This thread is about the House.

If this is true, it's great news. I thank the our founding fathers for having the insight to balance the legislature with 2 separate bodies. Perhaps this will shake up the RINOs in the Senate. My feelings for Jorge are simple:

So what? Thats 114 to 321.
The Dems want this PoS legislation passed as a REPUBLICAN Amnesty bill so they can maintain their majorities.
Pelosi said she would not bring this to the floor of the house without knowing at least 70 republicans supported it.
That is the "what"

Hasnt Pelosi stated several times that she will not bring the immigration bill to the floor unless there are 70 Republican votes in favor? If this is true and she holds to her word (I know) then there is hope. The democrats must have cover on this and they know it, but unlike the Senate the whole House is up for election next year and they know it!Your right. Pelosi has said that she will not bring the Amnesty Bill to the floor unless she has at least 70 House Republicans backing the bill. Pelosi needs at least 70 House Republicans for two reasons.
First, she doesn't want this to pass on basically a party-line vote and have an irate public toss the House back to the GOP if they see that Amnesty passed the House on mostly democrat votes. Second, there are a significant number of democrats who will also oppose Amnesty, so Pelosi must have at least 70 House Republicans to back the amnesty to offset the democrat house members who will vote against Amnesty.
My best bet is that she will get no more than half of that number (45) House Republicans to support Amnesty.
