Duncan Hunter is a Vietnam veteran, won a medal, and served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers.

Hunter’s been in Iraq 5 times and Chaired of the House Armed Services Committee. He also has a son, who served two tours in Iraq (including Fallujah) and is headed for a 3rd tour, this time, Afghanistan.

So I think Hunter has what it takes to win the WOT more than any other candidate.

It was apparently intended to be that, but read some of the highlights (little irony there).

It was a little more like what immediately followed the acquittals of the police who beat King.

Does that include posting voting record facts about a candidate? Or are those not allowed to be seen here?
I've been flamed quite a few times for posting the facts.

"Facts" about voting records can be a little tricky depending on how one characterizes a particular vote. Some of your "facts" characterized Fred's votes differently from how those same votes have been characterized elsewhere. So I guess it comes down to whose "facts" more closely resemble reality.

Well, it looks like I’m going to be arguing with corporate lawyers with quotes from the congressional record on those facts before long.

They didn’t do very well with their anti-family advocacy in debates, BTW. The bandwagon and rhetoric approach conquered families, but it won’t win this time.

...reminds me of something else that Thompson controllers are for and that Hunter is against. Behold: a real peek at one of many social programs supported by many Liberaltarians.

The following are Fortune 500s that filed briefs in favor of “affirmative action” in the Michigan “Grutter v. Bollinger” (Michigan University) case.

Better than Hunter/Thompson. Too much like Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing and all that.

Duncan is my first choice. Realistically though Fred stands a far better chance of getting elected so ... read my tag line

It’s about 15 min long but can give you some more idea about him, if you or anyone else is interested.

If you like these guys, contribute to their campaigns, so we don’t get Rudy McRomney.

If you can afford it, why not give to both candidates, if you like them both, so one will be president, and one will be VP.

I think that most that support Fred would have no problem supporting Hunter if he should get the nomination.

In my opinion they are both good honest Conservatives.

I’m not sure why Hunter’s campaign never took off but I don’t follow Calif politics much.

A Thompson/Hunter ticket would be great.

Fred is weaker than Hunter on the issues I care most about, but he’s still better than any of the other options. I’m for Hunter as long as he’s in the race. If Fred gets the nomination I’ll gladly vote for him in the general election—can’t say that about the other Republican candidates(I may have vote for one of them in the general but I won’t be particularly happy about it.)

DITTOS! My feelings exactly.

Also, the Great One (Levin) interviewed Hunter during the first hour of his show today and came away most impressed with him (FWIW). If anyone’s interested, MarkLevinShow.com archives his shows.

I’m not trying to take anything away from Thompson...but as of yet, there is nothing to take away. He’s made a handful of low profile speeches, and I didn’t hear him articulate anything but conservative platitudes - which Bush does all the time, but that hardly makes it genuine or effective. His Senate record is okay, but he was a close ally of McCain, which makes you wonder. My attitude with Thompson is wait and see, and I don’t know how anyone else could responsibly think otherwise unless they are intimately familar with the man.

As for my statement on money, I stand by it. Money buys you media exposure and name identification - Hunter doesn’t have the money to buy it, nor does he have it from serving in the House. Few Congressmen do. Thompson has it because he was a U.S. Senator, but even more so because he was on Law and Order. It’s tough to buy that kind of exposure, so he’s progressed without it. His entire campaign is celebrity driven thus far.
