Who would buy a $500 phone and pay $100 a month or more to feed it? And why?

My T-Mobile MDA does everything the iPhone does and has been for the last 2 years.

Apple, your late!

The iPhone has new display hardware that no other phone has . . . yet.
One of my big problems with the phone is its lack of high speed internet. It has 2.5G and not the much faster 3G.
Then there is the cost.

They said that about MP3 players right before the iPod was introduced.

Now the iPod *is* 75% of the market.

Late? More like “right on time”.

Mr. Peel bought an HP "smart phone" (model 6513?) Bluetooth *almost* worked. WiFi *almost* worked. The Phone part - so-so. Price: Over $550.00. After playing with it for 10 days, he decided to return it to T-Mobile. Reason: T-Mobile decided to drop support for the phone as it was *almost* good enough to support.

Paying $550.00 for something that *almost* worked versus $600.00 that is expected to work flawlessly is a no-brainer. (Now, of course, if the iPhone doesn't work, that's a different story -- it goes back!)

Gee, I can remember when a phone was something you used to call someone. Didn’t do anything else, just rang when someone was calling you (had no clue who). (I can even remember party lines … old is not a state of mind, just being able to remember things that others are to young to remember). ;-)

I’m sure it’s a really nice phone. But I still don’t want one.

I have a razor and hate the thing. I not buying hyped stuff anymore.

Does anyone know if you can run fedora on a imac?

Intel iMac - go for it!

Or better yet, get VMWare or Parallels and have Linux as a separate window on your Mac OS desktop.

I suspect vanity plays a large part of it. No shame in that though. My dad is getting one, I’m waiting. Not because of price, but worries about the touch screen. Combining my cell phone and nano will be nice, not to mention double the space for songs.

I wonder why they call it a “cell phone”. They give them away for free at many places. I got three V3c’s with my $30 a month three line plan. It rings, it talks, its a cell phone.

For the rest you need a lappy. Does anyone actually think Internet over the cell phone frequencies is going to work? Unless they repealed the laws of physics, good luck with that.

And people think braodband is slow ...
