A knife was found onboard a SkyWest-Midwest Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Milwaukee Thursday. The Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) confirms that an Exacto-style knife was found onboard the plane Thursday morning.

When the knife was found, the plane was returned to the gate at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport where passengers were taken off the plane and re-screened while the airplane was searched.

No other contraband was found and all passengers were allowed to re-board. Midwest Airlines Flight YX2502 arrived in Milwaukee at 11:43 a.m, -- about one hour behind schedule.

An Exacto knife won’t buy anyone an airplane these days.

All you need is a stubby allen key....to undo the alluminum spikes that latch the food carts in place.

I know oodles of people that would love for some terrorist to come at them with an Xacto knife on a plane. Be a nice bit of exercise to break up that long flight.

I’m thinking the blade was stashed by some nervous good citizen who inadvertently carried it through incompetent airport security.

Most likely. The TSA isn’t real sharp.

The boxcutter/utility knife may be made by Exacto, but it isn’t an ‘exacto type knife’. You want a model 3201. Blade about the size of the nail on your little finger. Even the blades in the assortment kit 5282 are about the size of a thumbnail for the largest. Frankly, reading the TSA list, I can find a couple of more serviceable items for defense that are completely legal to carry on board.

You got to be kidding I worked with these for 30 years .. a fresh #11 blade is a frickin scalpel, one little slip and it will cut you like butter (got the sliced up thumbs to prove it) I would fear a Exacto #11 over a box cutter any day

What a ridiculous overreaction! One exacto knife and the whole plane gets searched?

How about this: Lady leaves knife in purse. Discovers it on plane. Freaks out that she will be called a terrorist, so stashes it on plane.

Everyone panics.
