Lack of social development??? That’s precisely why I am upset by this comment. You are showing a great deal of ignorance in your post.
I and my children have a great sense of humor, thank you. And, I’m curious as to how many homeschoolers you’ve actually met? Not all homeschoolers are the same, and not all homeschool for the same reasons.
I personally have had psychologists and doctors whom our family is friends with express to me that my children are more well-adjusted, and very matured socially in comparison to the other government-schooled children they’ve come in contact with. I’m afraid you are very off-the-mark with your comments...
Hey, Liberty - I have a little story for you to support/accentuate your “socially adjusted” commentary.
Imagine this situation: My family spent the weekend at a homeschool conference, then Sunday evening we went to a local mall to eat at a kids’ theme restaurant. Now, where do you think the kids we observed were more “socially adjusted”?
I’m telling you, going to that mall was like going to some foreign country after being surrounded by well behaved, Christian children and teens.
I think the whole”social development”argument for public schools is highly overated, way more than the liberal indoctrination argument against them.
I think my social development was actually HINDERED by me going to public schools.Whats so enobling about being bullied by a bunch of little thugs and being mocked and ridiculed by the girls because I had some kind of interests beyond the football team and”bitching”cars?
To this day I am misanthropic and people wary. The innocence of my childhood was shattered by the cold and callous ways of the peer group.

I’ve had the same comments. My kids are very well respected in our neighborhood, church, and the little town we live in. :-) We’ve only been here a year.
Our pastor sat down with a group of homeschool kids and talked to them for a long time. He said he never enjoyed talking to kids as much as he did these kids.
I will concede one child in the group is in public school.
