Why Did C-SPAN Blacklist Savage?
TBP | Now | Moi

Posted on 06/12/2007 12:42:17 PM PDT by TBP

Michael Savage, the #3 most listened to talk-show host in America, was honored by Talkers Magazine, the "Bible" of talk radio, with this year's Freedom of peech Award.

Recently, Talkers held a bash at which they presented the award. C-SPAN, which claims to be nonpartisan and nonideological, was there and carried most of the speeches. But for some reason, it blacklisted Savage's speech accepting the award.

Why would a nonideological network do this? More liberal media bias, obviously. C-SPAN has now willingly made itself part of the liberal effort to suppress freedom of speech in this country.

If you think the news division at the WSJ is “conservative” that tells me all I need to know. And Rush is a “consumer” of news? He’s never called himself that.

You still haven’t addressed the fact that C-Span refuses to air stories on the corruption of Reid, Pelosi, Hillary and a dozen other rats. Meanwhile, C-Span has no trouble pounding on the manufactured crisis of fired US attorneys and Abu Grab and Guantanamo.

You have fallen for the liberal spin that C-Span is unbiased and if that’s your preference, go for it. But don’t try passing off your blinders to me.

And Rush is a “consumer” of news? He’s never called himself that.

And that's pretty much all I need to know about your ability to think for yourself.

How about this. Name any credible national figure or any credible news organization that has publicly claimed what you have claimed about C-SPAN?

How about this: Answer my question.

Name any credible national figure or any credible news organization that has publicly claimed what you have claimed about C-SPAN?

Freepers on FR. Callers on C-Span.

Don’t bother answering. I’m sure you won’t find Freepers or conservative callers credible. Anyone who finds the news department at the WSJ “conservative” is looking at the world from the left side of the room.

Because CSPAN is biased towards the left, as most news media.
Yes, Savage is a few ganglions short of a full brain, but he is right on about the threat from the death cult based in the middle east.

Just as I thought, you can’t name one.

Posting on FR or calling C-SPAN does not make you a national or public figure.

What I referenced from the WSJ was not from the news department. You know that, right?

And every “national organization” that finds C-Span unbiased is liberal.

For the third time, answer my question: Why hasn’t C-Span aired stories on the corruption of Reid, Pelosi, Hillary and a dozen other rats?

Everyone on FR knows the answer, but your liberal blinders won’t allow you to see it.

Maybe C-SPAN “blacklisted” Savage because he skipped the
ceremony.

Radio Equalizer blog has the following (all that follows
is by the blogger):

http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/

Michael Savage, Freedom Of Speech Award
NO SHOW

Savage Skips Own Award Ceremony
by Brian Maloney

What would it take to get Michael Savage to come out of his shell?

Again underscoring his ultra- reclusive nature, the “Savage Nation” host unexpectedly failed to appear at a ceremony where he was to pick up an industry honor.

Selected to receive this year’s Freedom Of Speech Award at the New Media Seminar held over the weekend in New York City, Savage instead substituted a hastily- made YouTube- style home video.

Overseen by Talkers Magazine, the event provides an annual gathering place for talk show hosts, programmers and syndicators. While Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Lars Larson, Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller, Rusty Humphries, Michael Medved, G Gordon Liddy, Jerry Doyle and many others made the trip, Savage’s failure to appear was not announced ahead of the ceremony.

His non- appearance must have been a disappointment for Talkers publisher Michael Harrison, who generally uses the award presentation to generate publicity for his magazine and seminar.

As for the video (which your Radio Equalizer is praying will soon reach YouTube), it was so bad that it was actually good. While a few obvious non- fans in the audience snickered, Savage actually came across in a friendly, conversational style rarely heard on his radio show these days.

Filmed from his boat Patriot in an undisclosed Marin County location, Savage rattled off a number of points in rapid- fire style. Occasionally during the crudely- edited production, he appeared in front of his own “Mike’s Bar”, which appeared to be elsewhere on his property.

The syndicated radio host railed against Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, calling them “failed radio hosts” and “frauds”, while asserting that liberals have almost- universal control over the world’s ideas and images, with talk radio as one of the rare exceptions.

Also warning against a possible reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine, which would regulate the content of talk radio, Savage said that it merely represents “censorship with a fancy name and has no place in America.”

Comparing Fairness Doctrine proposals by Democrats to Venezuelan thug Hugo Chavez’s recent shutdown of an opposition television network, Savage said he considers radio broadcasting here to exist in a “perilous state” that may not be that much more free than in the South American state.

While it’s not clear what kept Savage away from the event, his video presentation certainly kept the audience entertained, whether they were fans or not.

“Everyone on FR knows the answer”

I don’t thinks so, but if that’s the case, so what?

How do you know those things haven’t been discussed on C-SPAN?

I suggest you get on the horn some morning during open phones and ask them the question. Do it on Friday. Brian Lamb will know. I don’t know the answer.

Now you answer mine? A nationally known public figure and/or a credible news organization that has claimed C-SPAN bias.

For what it’s worth (why do I keep hearing Paul Harvey’s
voice in my head when I type that?)—One comment that appeared on RadioEqualizer’s blog entry, by Bill Bowman:

“Savage is cleverly disguising the fact that he did not attend the event while bashing C-SPAN for not taping the playing of his video. He claims he’s being blacklisted. He’s playing snippets of the audio on his program, while enticing listeners to shell out $20 for the DVD version of it. Savage is the epitome of the bully. Always willing to call people out and call them names as long as he is hiding behind something.”

You laugh, but Savage’s nutrition advice is right on. Doping up kids instead of feeding them well has exacerbated the liberal indoctrination of our children.

I don’t see how Howie Carr wouldn’t expand his radio program, even if it’s only a few more radio stations, after he does move to Florida.

“A nationally known public figure and/or a credible news organization that has claimed C-SPAN bias.”

I don’t know what you consider a “nationally known public figure or credible news organization.” That’s a stupid request. You already stated you don’t consider Freepers credible. That naturally raises the question of why you don’t consider Freepers credible, and what are you doing here if you find freepers not credible.

I tune into C-Span every day to see its line-up. And not once have the moderators presented a question concerning the various criminal activities of Schumer, Reid, Clinton or other rats for discussion. But we do get non-stop discussion of crimes against the president and various Republicans, based on propaganda from the liberal press.

So, let’s ferret out your opinion of which “nationally known public figure and/or a credible news organization” you consider more knowledgable, more credible and more trusting than your fellow Freepers.

That should tell us a lot of where on the politcial spectrum you stand.

Stop playing dumb. Or maybe you're not playing?

You already stated you don’t consider Freepers credible.

And stop lying.

Anonymously posting on a message board is not the same thing as being a well known public figure who states that C-SPAN is a biased organization.

From any source, wise guy? Conservative or liberal? Print or electronic? Columnist or journalist? Executive or anchor? Elected or appointed? Politician or pundit?

Why am I here? Do I need to wear an AIDS ribbon or think like you do to be here?

Kosovo is not even a pimple on the rump of the geopolitical dynamics at work in the region. I counsel a dispassionate step back form the rhetoric enflamed by the Pan-Slavic Russians and the interest lobbies. Kosovo should be viewed in the larger context of U.S. vital national interests not who did what to whom in a century long since past.

Our president wouldn't understand the concept of a nation having neither eternal friends nor enemies only eternal interests if it bit him on the ankle. That was obvious by his irrational cheerleading episode in Trirana earlier this week. Getting all worked up because Serbia rescued downed America airmen in WW II is a non sequitur, neither does it impact on U.S. interests if Albania swallows Kosovo unless we want to placate Mr. Putin and his new found interest in the Pan-Salvic movement that Russia has advanced since Tsar Nicholas II sought to protect his geographic ''six'' from an encompassing Austro-Hungarian Empire urged on by The Kaiser and Bismarck before 1871 and even after by Bismarck's replacement from 1871- to the start of WW I.

The subject, if one wishes to make it so, is exceedingly complex and not properly susceptible to bumber sticker argument or Savage-like sound bites that begin with a conclusion without the benefit of any historic or contemporary international power relationship analysis. Outbursts like those posted here are easy, simplistic, sound macho and--are equally wrong. I'm out--das ende !!!!

You mean that clown didn’t even attend the event? And he’s complaining that his DVD wasn’t taped? How callous and irrational. You’re right on with your analysis of his character and tactics. Well said....

More liberal media bias, obviously.

I disagree with it on principle, but "blacklisting" a so-called (and none to bright) conservative -- actually a nutcase populist at best, a posturing cynic at worst -- like Savage would represent a (rare) conservative bias if anything; just as the MSM often manifests its liberal bias by ignoring or whitewashing leftist extremists who are an uncomfortable embarrassment to liberals.

I despise Russia and Putin, and am not a Serb. I oppose an independent Kosovo because those people are maggots who murdered Jews as part of Waffen-SS Nazi units. They run the kidnapping/sex slave and heroin trades in Europe, are getting millions from the Saudis to radicalize the KLA, and must NEVER be given a state. Period. All of the historical distractions are irrelevant. No Independent Kosovo. Ever. Bush can go to hell.
