Why Did C-SPAN Blacklist Savage?
TBP | Now | Moi

Posted on 06/12/2007 12:42:17 PM PDT by TBP

Michael Savage, the #3 most listened to talk-show host in America, was honored by Talkers Magazine, the "Bible" of talk radio, with this year's Freedom of peech Award.

Recently, Talkers held a bash at which they presented the award. C-SPAN, which claims to be nonpartisan and nonideological, was there and carried most of the speeches. But for some reason, it blacklisted Savage's speech accepting the award.

Why would a nonideological network do this? More liberal media bias, obviously. C-SPAN has now willingly made itself part of the liberal effort to suppress freedom of speech in this country.

Okay let me correct myself Savage is the #3 ‘CONSERVATIVE’ talk show host in the nation, and I might add conservatives for the most part are a notch above in intellect and independence.

There was a study recently that proclaimed that talk radio listeners are the most informed of all the people and I would also add that the average Savage Nation listener just like myself does not limit himself to listening to just one talk show host with that said C-Span is still a liberal mouthpiece and anyone who daily proclaims that “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder” is not going to get coverage from a bunch of folks who no doubt identify as ‘liberals’.

Do you really intend to compare Dr. Savage to those "people"?

The Bushbots are parroting the CiC regarding the border; if you're against the illegal invasion, you're a racist!

Oh, and Bush is not responsible for the corruption of the 1994 class of GOP

When did I say he was, or that Bush was the main cause for the 2006 losses? He was a major factor, and RINO and corrupt Republicans were also a major factor. Polls say "dissatisfaction" with Iraq was the biggest factor. Michael Savage was a non-factor. To think otherwise is just delusional.

Because C-Span is an organ of the government,

This is a common misconception. If it were an organ of government, we would have seen more of President Bush over his term. When ex42 was in office, C-Span was saturated with him and his wife. With President Bush, they barely show his major speeches.

C-Span is paid for by the Cable TV owners of America. Think Ted Turner when you wonder why they program the way that they do. President Bush's replays are often listed like TBA or just skipped in the listings. You have to guess that a missed time period might be him.

Tell me I am stupid. I have a 4 year degree in accounting, I have an MBA in Finance, I worked in Finance in Healthcare for over 11 years, I have worked in Finance in the banking industry for over 12 years. And I have been a FReeper since 1999.

That is what some of these people don't get about Savage. He has the education. They can't top it. Too bad.

Just responding to a ping, truth

Well last time I checked you're still being pinged daily on the TSN thread, but whatever, glad to see you're still 'in the Savage mix'.

Hannity is just plain awful imo. He never has anything intelligent to say, he seems to be imitating Rush, basically. He doesn’t seem to be particularly smart or insightful. He does good on his interviews, but milquetoast other than that.

Maybe, maybe not. But his message is conservative. His message is on mark. His message is allot clearer than some so called conservatives

Savage is conservative on most issues. The bush-bots on here can't think for themselves- they need Rush and Sean to do that for them.

I have noticed that Rush and Sean spend most of their air time on trying to convince people that their opinion is the only correct one. Savage spends most of his radio show telling us what he feels.. as he says 'this is just one mans opinion'... He frequently says 'if you disagrree with me, fine.. I don't really care.. just call me".

I would rather listen to Savage tell us his opinion on something (agree or disagree with him) than Sean or Rush trying to sell us the same old bag of sh*t from the GOP talking points.

Apparently, O'Reilly has banned him too.

Heres the real reason why Sean and O'Reilly have a problem with Savage. Hannity and O'Reilly are backed and syndicated by huge companies (both on the radio and on TV). Saage is indepenantly syndicated. It would be hard to have him knocked off of the air. They look at Savage as competition- and it drives them totaly nuts that an independant radio show can compete with them in the ratings. I think O'Reilly is justjealous of Savage.

Howie Carr is smart enough to make all of the issues that he talks about interesting at the national level if he was national. This wouldn’t be a problem for Howie.

True, but it's worse than that. Wheee The People compared him to David Duke, Farrakhan, Hitler, and Mussolini. That's worse than calling him a racist. It's calling him a murderous, tyrannical, totalitarian. Taht is unacceptable and IMO, a violation of community standards around here.

Did you post on her FR thread? Why did that disappear?

She authored a thread, and it was pulled? News to me! I DO know that on Friday's show, she gave thanks to everyone who got involved in stopping the shamnesty bill, which included Free Republic.

Maybe it's because O'Reilly and Hannity are Irish and Savage is not. LOL!

Here’s how I know you’re wrong. C-SPAN gets about an equal number of complaint calls during WJ from both sides. The really good thing is that when Brian Lamb is the host he no longer suffers such fools.

How do I refute someone who wonders why C-SPAN doesn’t use Rush Limbaugh as a source?

Rush Limbaugh is a consumer of the news just as you and I are. And, for that matter, just as C-SPAN is a consumer of the news.

Look, you see C-SPAN as biased. That’s your right. When you watch, I believe you watch with an ax to grind. Try it with an open mind.

Don’t look now but C-SPAN is using the WSJ Maliki letter as the backdrop for the call-in topic.
