Defendant in UNC attack apologizes for actions

The man accused of striking nine people when he drove a vehicle on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill last year has apologized in a letter sent to the court. In the letter dated May 20 and sent to Orange County Superior Court, Mohammed Taheri-azar said he is "very sorry for the crimes which I committed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on March 3, 2006. I sincerely regret what I did on that day. Please release me from state custody so that I may pursue my goal of living a productive life in California."

Taheri-Azar, 23, said he hopes to work for his father's general contracting company in Anaheim, Calif., and "re-establish myself as a good, caring and productive member of society."

In the letter, Taheri-Azar also apologizes for his actions March 5 of this year in the courtroom, when he said he hated all Americans and Jews and called his attorney a moron.

"I ... apologize for my distasteful conduct in your courtroom on March 5, 2007. I promise you that I will never again in my life display such poor, ignorant behavior," he wrote.

Afterward, Public Defender James Williams said his client "has a severe mental illness."

Taheri-azar pleaded not guilty in January to nine counts of attempted first-degree murder and nine counts of felonious assault. He struck nine people as he drove a rented SUV through the Pit, a campus gathering spot.

He states/writes “Please release me from state custody so that I may pursue my goal of living a productive life in California.”

A naive person (more “compassionate than us “Islamophobes”) who knows NOTHING of Islam will state, “This poor man is sorry! He even said so! He wants to be a productive person and that means he will work hard, pay taxes, pet doggies, and be really nice.” This cannot be farther from reality.

This “lone jihadist’s” definition of “productive life” is to carry out his cult’s orgy of death and destruction. That is what his Imams tell him to do, what Arab media tells him to do, what the Koran and Hadith’s tell him to do, and that is what he believes as demonstrated by his actions. He cannot be “productive” in jihad behind bars. He can, however, be a “productive jihadist” working for a general contractor as mentioned above. His “production” is dead infidels and destruction.

And a "phobia" is an irrational, unfounded fear. The ones the left and Islam accuse of being "Islamophobes" have a VERY rational and well supported fear or the Islamic Fascists.

“The second paragraph, in it’s entirety: Taheri-Azar, 23, said he hopes to work for his father’s general contracting company in Anaheim, Calif., and “re-establish myself as a good, caring and productive member of society.”

And it’s completely surrounded by paragraphs that identify his comments as being in a letter. I see no effoert here at all to fool people into thinking this guy was actually speaking.

“If somebody else, such as his lawyer, wrote the letter, as I would wager is almost certainly the case, that should be made clear also.”

Based on the bad writing that sounds like English is not the author’s first language, I would wager the perp wrote it or most of it himself, but it was almost certainly reviewed and changed some by his lawyer. Anyway, I seriously doubt that the lawyer told or would tell the media he wrote it if he did.

Whether the guy is really sorry or not, who knows? I don’t think it’s going to get him out of prison any time soon, though.

Strange... not one mention of the “M” word that dominated his original cursing of the court.

Given the political climate in Chapel Hill (Hell or Hole) I’m certain the man will be forgiven. After few months from now, he will be lionized on the campus and elected as student body president.

Who would have thought that those sentence-parsing skills that Bill Clinton forced a lot us to develop would turn out to be useful past his tenure?

I’m sure he’s sorry...sorry that he didn’t kill a bunch of infidels. Sorry that he got caught. He’s a sorry POS that should be deported after a lengthy prison sentence.

Ignorant? You mean he didn’t know those people were there?

Since when does ignorance = evil?

Ah. Wimp.

If he has made this much progress in such a short time, think what a model citizen he will be after 10 years with a large roommate.
