McCain Blames Conservatives for Immigration Bill's Failure [McLame Sucks Alert]

WASHINGTON — While the White House is blaming the Democratic leadership for the collapse of the immigration bill, Senator McCain is directing his ire at members of his own party.

The Arizona senator, asked yesterday to explain the bill's failure last week, cited the work of "the more conservative, anti-immigrant, anti-legislation group" of lawmakers who defeated the proposal in Congress.

"I think the Senate works in a way where relatively small numbers can block legislation, but I also think the more conservative, anti-immigrant, anti-legislation group were very well backed up by a very vocal group of people who were supporting them," Mr. McCain said on ABC's "This Week."

The senator had been a chief proponent of the immigration bill, a compromise that would have tightened border security and established a temporary "guest worker" program while offering legal status and a chance for citizenship to many of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants now in the country. Many conservatives have strongly opposed the bill, deriding it as "amnesty," and the issue has dogged Mr. McCain's bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, pulled the bill from the Senate floor last week after it failed a second test vote to limit debate. Mr. McCain's reaction has differed from that of the White House, which has expressed disappointment in Mr. Reid for not allowing a longer period of debate on the bill.

McCain: A border state Senator who is totally for the Immigration Bill who is like a homeowner who invites all the dogs in town to come crap in his yard because he needs the fertilizer.

And when his wife complains of the smell and the shoe residue he yells at her, “You got a better plan?”

I know DemocRATs, Indy’s, and fellow Republicans who were all against this bill. In fact, I haven’t met anyone that was for the bill especially when they found out how many pages were in the bill.

These people supporting this bill are delusional. Enforce the rules on the books and then get back to all of us.

We should have left this guy behind with the Viet Cong.

Sorry. Can't agree in the slightest with that remark. No one should be left as a POW. McCain, more than others should know that.

That said, he should have been run out of politics after being one of the Keating 5.

McCain WILL drop out, because his money will dry up after Thompson enters the race.

Yes, I agree, but before he does, he needs to be at a debate with a predominantly Republican audience, where they can boo him loudly when he spouts off the crap that he did at the last debate.

McCaniac will never be president.

Am I the only one who thinks McCaniac acts like a really senile individual?

I want to say one “good” thing about McCain!

He along with Teddy Atlas want to clean up Pro Boxing.
Their idea is to make all Pro Boxers join the Teamster Union.

LOL

Not "anti-immigrant," not "guest workers," not "undocumented workers," John, George W. and all of you other liars.

I suppose by now I should get used to being referred to as some "right-wing bigot, racist, nativist, etc." but for these supposed elites to stand in front of us, and worse yet, go before cameras and smear the people whose votes he purports to desire, is really rich!

What we are WASHINGTON, is anti-ILLEGAL ALIEN, anti-thieves using stolen I.D.s to get all kinds of things that they should never get, anti-big business pandering to Mexico for more illegal aliens to take jobs further degrading our standard of living!"

Get over it - WE WIN, YOU LOSE!!!!

Shut up and go home to AZ, TX, FL, GA, KS or wherever you used to live.

It’s stands like this that pretty much guarantee that he cannot make it out of the Republican primaries.

Worse, he’s been believing his own press clippings for altogether too long now. Press clippings, as we well know, that emanate from that discordant gene pool of lefties who are wont to characterize themselves as political beat writers.

If the man had any sense of probity and intellectual honesty, he’s switch parties and declare himself a democrat before sundown today.

But what would be the odds of that happening???

CA....

At least he didn’t blame it on bigots, or those who don’t want to do whats right for America.

That was not voiced, only implied.

Yes, and the supporter-in-chief is one GWB. He is arm-twisting 38 GOP senators on June 12 to get them to change their minds!

I still think Arizona needs to be punished for him.

Considering AZ is on the ground zero of the illegal invasion, they are being punished for him.
