6 People Being Treated After Exposure to Substance
Click Here to Listen to our report at 3
Children's Hospital says its emergency room is back open. Haz mat crews are at the hospital. A spokeswoman, Jackie Gauger, says a patient came to the hospital today after coming in contact with an unknown substance.
That patient and their mother were both sick. Four other people at the hospital are now also being treated.
Gauger wasn't sure exactly why Haz Mat teams responded to the hospital. There were reports that a substance in a backpack is making people sick.
It appears this case is somehow related to Meonomonee Falls High School, but it's not clear yet how. Calls to the high school were not immedeately returned.

Milwaukee FD Engine Company #25 is a crack Hazmat team with a 5/5 (highest) rating. They are used all over SE WI for mutual aid missions. They are located very near Wauwatosa and the hospital.

Children’s Says ER Back Open Amid HazMat Response
Children’s Hospital says its emergency room is back open. Haz mat crews are at the hospital. A spokeswoman, Jackie Gauger, says a patient came to the hospital today after coming in contact with an unknown substance.
That patient and their mother were both side. Gauger says at this point those are the only two sick people we’re aware of.
Gauger wasn’t sure exactly why Haz Mat teams responded to the hospital. There were reports that a substance in a backpack is making people sick.

"Milwaukee Engine Company #25 is effecting a citywide recall of it's members from other duties to report to the scene." It would seem that meeting somewhere else until the threat is identified would be the wisest thing for the firemen to do.

“There were reports that a substance in a backpack is making people sick.”
Sounds like a lot of the lunches brought to school in backpacks back when I was in high school.

Saw the quicky news conference. Young lady spokesperson seemed very harried and deferrered specific questions to more senior corporate staff.
Very wide disparity between what the hospital just said and what law enforcement and the media initially reported.

Spokesbabe said that a patient was admitted who had been exposed to a “hazardous substance” and that the patients mother also became ill while in the ER with the patient.
No other people are said to be ill according to the public information gal at the hospital.
Again, this wildly contradicts initial media reports.
