That is the headline on Drudge and all he has for now. Since Matt is undoubtedly in bed on the East Coast, we can probably thank Andrew Breitbart.
The immigration bill is on the brink of collapse in the Senate. Let's hope for some more developments soon.
I kid you not, we were having nearly this same discussion on FR the morning of 9/11/2001.
George Bush was ramping up from his alliance with Vincente Fox to give us exactly the same thing we're seeing today.
And the only thing that restrained George Bush last year, was the Republican candidates telling him they'd lose elections he if kept it up with the 2006 Comprehensive Shamnesty.
But he'd already done the damage.
KILL (the) BILL !
Then, I'd support the impeachment of GWB. The 'will of the people' must be enforced.
My guess is that Rupert Murdoch reined him in initially; Murdoch is entirely in favor of this amnesty nonsense. I guess O’Reilly (and Murdoch) realize that Fox will lose viewership (the only thing that matters to both clowns) if they continue to ignore a charged up conservative base on this issue.
I think these idiots are being forced to accept reality. I wish Brit Hume came to the same conclusion too.
Spirits among conservative critics of the immigration bill have brightened today following several Senate votes that indicate at least 40 senators could block the bill during a cloture vote tomorrow.Well-placed sources tell me that activists are focusing their attention on the following list of senators:
Sam Brownback (R.-Kan.),
Richard Burr (R.-N.C.),
Saxby Chambliss (R.-Ga.),
Larry Craig (R.-Idaho),
Pete Domenici (R.- N.M.),
Byron Dorgan (D.-N.D.),
John Ensign (R.-Nev.),
Mike Enzi (R.-Wyo.),
Judd Gregg (R.-N.H.),
Johnny Isakson (R.-Ga.),
Jon Kyl (R.-Ariz.),
Mary Landrieu (D.-La.),
Trent Lott (R.-Miss.),
Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.),
Claire McCaskill (D.-Mo.),
Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.),
Mark Pryor (D.-Ark.),
Debbie Stabenow (D.-Mich.),
John Sununu (R.- N.H.),
Jon Tester (D.-Mont.),
George Voinovich (R.-Ohio),
Jim Webb (D.-Va.),
John Warner (R.-Va.).These individuals are apparently still non-committal about how they will vote on the final bill or could be swayed depending on votes either for or against amendments to the bill.
"The Senate voted 51-46 to reject a proposal by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, to bar criminals - including those ordered by judges to be deported - from gaining legal status. Democrats siphoned support from Cornyn's proposal by winning adoption, 66-32, of a rival version that would bar a more limited set of criminals, including certain gang members and sex offenders, from gaining legalization."
I’m from Virginia, but Sessions is a great Senator. I envy you guys.
I called his office the other day to say thinks for being honest and informative, keep it up, please.

“When did Bill change his mind about this immigration bill?”
Probably after he read some sections of it.
10 Reps voted with the Dems to defeat the Cornyn bill. 9 Dems voted for the Cornyn bill. Two independents [Sanders and Lieberman] voted to defeat the Cornyn bill.
This is way too ruthless and insistent to be a "legacy" issue.
There is something deeply rotten and suspicious about George Bush's commitment to this atrocity.
Dittos for Oregon :-(
I agree 100%, first control the borders.
Then we can talk about the rest of the problem.
I've been boycotting Tyson since the Klintoon years. Bubba and Bubette have been in bed with Don Tyson since the '80s.
I saw this commercial on FOX too. My brother visiting from California could not believe it.
It doesn’t take 41 to vote down cloture. It takes 60 to INVOKE cloture.
Further, cloture is the way to end a filibuster. They already are under an agreement which controls the debate and doesn’t allow anybody to have the floor, and they’ve been careful to only give the floor to opponents under agreements that set time limits.
Congressman Billybob
