Supermodel Giselle Bundchen Attacks Catholic Church Abortion Position

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (LifeNews.com) -- Supermodel Giselle Bundchen made news on Wednesday but not because of a fashion shoot or appearance on the runway. Instead, she's getting press as a result of her speaking out in the overwhelmingly Catholic nation of Brazil about the Church's position on abortion.

Bundchen, called the Catholic position on abortion and sexuality outdated because she says it was adopted at a time when "the women were virgins and the guys were virgins"

"Today no one is a virgin when they get married ... show me someone who's a virgin!" she demanded.

Asked about abortion, the supermodel replied that women should have the right to have one if they want, even in dubious circumstances.

"If she thinks she doesn't have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth?"

Giselle's comments are important in Brazil, a nation where abortion advocates have been trying to legalize the practice for years, because so many young women look up to her. However, they differ significantly from comments other top models have made.

Supermodel and successful businesswoman Kathy Ireland and actor and model Jennifer O'Neill are among those who have been outspoken about their pro-life beliefs.

Ireland, who gained attention as the first "supermodel," went on to acting and fitness videos and now heads her own company Kathy Ireland Worldwide. She is an outspoken advocate for the unborn and working mothers.

She agrees that the rights of women and unborn children can go hand in hand. "I'm liberal about the rights of the unborn child," Ireland explained. "I'm [also] a person who always has and always will fight for the rights of women."

Ireland says that once she realized the humanity of the unborn, she could no longer take a pro-abortion position.

"From the moment of conception, a new life comes into being with a complete genetic blueprint. The sex is determined. The blood type is determined. It doesn't start out as one species and suddenly become a human being."

O'Neill is the national spokeswoman for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and she knows the personal struggle millions of women face in trying to overcome an abortion they wish they never had.

“As women being silent no more about the harm abortion has caused us personally, we know that NOW and their compatriot organizations that promote abortion, do not represent us," she explained. "We also know abortion is not good for women's health and it is not empowering."

Since the post-abortion group was formed in 2003, more than 2326 women and men have shared their testimonies at 189 events in 44 states and 5 countries. More than 15,800 spectators have participated in the events to learn more about why women regret their abortions.

The group has also registered more than 4,100 women and men online who wish they could take back their participation in an abortion.

I she Catholic? If not, who cares what she thinks about Catholic teachings.

If she is Catholic, and she doesn’t agree with Catholic teachings, I’m pretty sure she’s free to leave the church anytime she wants.

Is she disappointed that her mother didn’t have an abortion?

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

She’s frustrated because she isn’t getting any from Leo DiCaprio anymore and she’s taking it out on pro-life supporters.

I once worked as a volunteer for the Pathology Department of a large hospital. This was before Roe vs Wade. One day I went into the autopsy room for something and noticed a container that held several "fetuses" that,I assume, were stillborn children.

The children were about the size of my thumb but were perfectly formed....absolutely recognizable as nothing but a very small human beings. To this day I can see these children...and I can see the one who actually needed his/her fingernails clipped.

Leonardo is not exactly "all that" in the looks department. I doubt that she cares about "getting any" from him.

Gisele Bundchen Has Put On 15 Lbs Since Giving Up Smoking
By Staff
Apr 25, 2007

Gisele Bundchen has put on 15 lbs since giving up smoking. The Brazilian supermodel says she is enjoying food so much more since kicking her habit.

She revealed: “When you stop smoking you gain weight because food tastes better than when it tasted like an ashtray.”

It was recently claimed the beauty was pregnant with American footballer Tom Brady’s baby after she was seen with what appeared to be a baby bump.

I don’t know why she’d want to shag that goombah. She ought to get herself a real man, like Steve Buscemi. ;-)

True, but his celebrity helped her career when they were together.
