..... is suspiciously avoiding the debates.

How can one avoid something one has not been invited to attend? He is not yet a declared candidate, therefore will not be included in the debates.

It’s not bad. The threads are running a bit longer. Friday and Saturday were the killer days. :)

The only detriment to Thompson that I know of is that he’s got no military experience.

One thing about Fred as opposed to the others.....I think he is being drafted into this and has certainly NOT had his heart set on being President. He is doing this out of a sense of duty to Country. That makes a BIG difference in how he handles himself.

He will say what he genuinely believes and if that hurts him in his race for prez...well who cares...he doesn’t have his heart set on being the big cheese anyway. The others are constantly calculating on the right thing to say to gain the most votes cuz they really really really want to be prez and will do just about anything to do it.

This election is going to be very interesting with Fred in the race. He will he will STOMP them...:)

There’s no way a Dumb B Grade Actor could ever be President. Just ask Goober Carter.

The 6’ 6” southern lawyer and former Tennessee Senator, about the only candidate in the race not dependent upon public office for a decent living, threatens liberals and self-styled conservatives alike. He seems to be shaking up Washington politics, even before getting to Washington.

Technically. However everyone knows he’s running yet he is going to be the commentator on Fox rather than a participant. Those of us who haven’t chosen a candidate would like to hear his views. I want to know if I’m in for 4-8 more years of Bush because that is what it appears.

once supported amnesty

Are you one of those people who doesn't know the difference between a temporary farm worker visa program and amnesty?

I haven’t chosen a candidate either, but I do know that one who has not declared is not going to be invited to the debates.......you claimed he was avoiding them.

Are you one of those people who can’t defend his candidate without spin and personal attacks?

I’m interested in facts about Thompson, not cheerleading.

He’s running. We all know it. Delaying his announcement til after the debates doesn’t look good.

You said he once supported amnesty. That was an inaccurate spin on his vote for a temporary farm worker program in 1998. He has not supported amnesty and has come out strongly against the current Kennedy stealth amnesty bill. If you're interested in facts about Thompson, how about refraining from dishonest spin on his record yourself.

Declaring candidacy more than a year a head of primaries doesn’t look good in my book either. Delaying an announcement until 6 months before the first primary is a smart move to me.

With that said, I need to leave for work, and will pick this up when I get back home.

The debates at this point are just political theater, anyway. How can there be a legimitate debate among 10 candidates? Nobody has a chance to articulate any valid points, because they have to talk in 30-second sound bites.

I'm old enough to remember the Kennedy-Nixon debates - now THAT was debating!
