Usually I say “wait for the evidence and the trial.”

But this guy interrupted Katrina rescues to get troops to cover his tracks. Disgusting.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see a law-breaking Congress critter being hand cuffed on the floor of the House (or Senate), read his Miranda rights and dog-walked out while the cameras were running!

If we had smart Republican leadership, the ethnics investigation would take equally as long.

.....thousands and thousands of pages of documents you need a large team.

I hear you, though it's still an announcement.

You'd think they could spare a couple of those guys to track down illegal aliens...oops I forgot that itself is illegal. ;)

Jefferson’s defense strategy: These were not bribes but donations for Katrina relief. And if you don’t believe that, you’re a racist. :)

“He will be tried in Virginia and not Louisiana too. He is toast.”

Alexandria, Va is not exactly a conservative stronghold. Far from it.

We can’t have a democRAT be indicted too close to the elections now can we? This is far enough out from the next election as to be forgotten by then

As for the last one it needed to be spiked until after the democRATS had won

Couldn’t interfere with the Democrats propaganda scampaign about a “Republican” culture of corruption before the 2006 election and couldn’t let it interfere with the “first 100 hours” of a “new tone” in Congress either.

He is being tried in Virginia not Louisiana and one of his associates already pled guilty and got eight years and is cooperating with the feds against Jefferson. He will get much more than a few months.

Democrats are saying that people are STILL dying in New Orleans because of Bush’s errors after Katrina. What about holding the local politicans accountable for the $$$ they stole?

I hear you, though it's still an announcement.

Oh, that part is completely superfluous.

But when you're a low-level government prosecutor working for half or less than your private sector counterparts are, you're doing the job for prestige, resume-padding and reputation.

And seeing yourself on TV as part of one of the largest corruption investigations in Federal history is a very inexpensive bonus for your boss to give.
