WASHINGTON Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., was indicted Monday on 16 counts related to a long-running bribery investigation on counts including racketeering, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. [snip]

I am suspicious that this is yet again just another diversion by our chicken$hit elected officials. Maybe not so much a diversion as much as a means of getting it squared away between elections. They didn't want this to happen during the midterms, and they certainly can't have this floating around in the runnup to '08, so....
