Maybe not so much a diversion as much as a means of getting it squared away between elections. They didn't want this to happen during the midterms, and they certainly can't have this floating around in the runnup to '08, so....
Kinda my point--DOJ is run by which political party? It should have already been done. So why now? Does anyone really believe this would have any legs if they wait until 08? I sure don't. Nothing the Dems do has legs.
