Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn charged today that a retired cargo worker at Kennedy International Airport plotted with a former member of the Guyanese Parliament and two other men to blow up terminal buildings, fuel tanks and the network of fuel pipelines that run beneath the airport complex.
Three of the four men, including the former airport worker and the former Parliament member, were arrested today and Friday by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and police detectives, the authorities said. The fourth man was being sought, and officials said additional people may face charges.
The airport worker, Russell Defreitas, 63, through the assistance of the member of Parliament, Abdul Kadir, was in the process of seeking the financial backing and blessing of a Trinidadian terrorist group, Jamaat Al Muslimeen. The group was behind a failed 1990 coup attempt in that country, officials said.
Several law enforcement officials said that there had been no direct threat to the airport, which handles an average of 1,000 flights a day and 45 million passengers a year, and that Mr. Defreitas, a United States citizen who was born in Guyana, and his co-conspirators had yet to obtain financing or explosives.

And before that was Black Tom, which damaged quite a bit of Manhattan.
“seven-hour drive “
Probably not. you are right.
Yes, and so did American Airlines flight 587. On November 12, 2001, ninety seconds after takeoff from JFK, it nosedived into a residential neighborhood in the Rockaways. It was the 2nd worst aviation crash in U.S. history.
I always thought it might have been a shoe bomber, but the NTSB said the pilot “inappropriately handled” the aircraft and set off a chain of events that led to the separation of the tail.
It does not have to be Al-Qaeda related, they have their various cells and sympathizers all over the world and especially here in the United States, watch Showtime - Sleeper Cell. These run-up incidents are the test run to the big one that they have planned and I hope we are all on guard for that.
I'm with you on that one.
Notice the wording? They, not we. I don't know why the press keep saying "homegrown terrorist". He obviously doesn't consider himself one of us.
That would be only a few miles from JFK.
This most recent jihadi appears to be a naturalized US citizen from Guyana, although with that name, I would suspect he was probably a convert to Islam, eiher here or in Guyana. Some of the bombers in the British attack were blacks from the Caribbean, which appears to be a fertile field for Islam.
Ping!
“Cambria Heights, NY?”
Would be interesting to pull the records from that site, but 50 bucks they want.
Please have mercy on him!
He is functioning at a "Beauty Quinn" level: expensive beauty shops, and the philosophy of two America; rich and poor, and helping the poooooor
Well I would hope that all of the Muslim airport workers here at Minneapolis Int’l wouldn’t entertain any ideas like this..... nah
Or into thinking he's a "real" muslim. (as if muslims aren't terrorists)
From the investigations I’ve seen mentioned on TV, that crash was caused because the pilot flew into the jet wash of the plane that had taken off before him, and the plane got out of his control. Haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary.
You put your finger on something: Strategic areas!
Muslims employment concentrations:
Stores and shops, including ownership = easy money laundering areas;
Transportation = economic vulnerability;
Nonprofit organizations = legal advice, activism, money laundering;
Communications through IT support = access to huge industrial/economic and personal/individual database;
Aspirations:
Political leadership = creating/changing laws.
This is just a spontaneous observation

“Well I would hope that all of the Muslim airport workers here at Minneapolis Intl wouldnt entertain any ideas like this..... nah.”
For the record; about last summer, I saw how all of the taxis out at the convenience store near the airport (basically, the base for the taxi drivers) were all in a line being searched. I witnessed such an event two different times.
I don’t know what has happened, but it use to be a high amount (about seventy five percent; more or less I’d say) that were Muslim workers; the Somalis.
Because I halfway keep up with the news, then I eventually saw in a news story, the president of the taxi drivers association; was an Ethiopian, those from that country and speak the Asmaran dialect are, overwhelmingly and generally Christians; and now, you don’t see that many taxi drivers working the airport who are Muslim.
But I don’t know much about what goes on inside the airport at this moment but 18 months ago, I was in there and there were many Muslims (read; the Somalis for all intents and purposes) working there.
You know, I am just stating facts, what I have seen personally and to the Brethren that are here.
