Four charged in plot to set off explosives at JFK
Just doing jobs that Americans won’t do, right?
The Amish at work again...
It will be interesting to see who these folks are and where they came from....did you catch how they called them the latest ‘homegrown’ terrorists referencing back the Fort Dix men. I wouldn’t have exactly called those men ‘homegrown’ and I’ll bet these aren’t either.
The Fort Dix one involved ILLEGALS.
Imagine giving terrorists amnesty.
They truly must be laughing their arses off at this amnesty situation ... .
Shouldn’t this be in broken news over to the right >>>>>>
I’m sure this will be on NBC, ABC, and SeeBS today. /s
The planning, which began last summer, involved four men, and targeted fuel tanks and pipelines at the airport, law enforcement sources said.
It did not target airplane flights, they said.
The goal was to set off explosives in a fuel line that feeds the airport and also runs through residential neighborhoods, The Associated Press reported, quoting officials close to the investigation.
An official described the suspects as "al Qaeda wannabes."
One suspect, a U.S. citizen who is a native of Guyana and who once worked at the airport, was described by a source as "a very angry Muslim extremist."
Another suspect is a former member of parliament in Guyana, several law enforcement officials said.
The plot was revealed when the planners tried to recruit help from someone who was a law enforcement informant, sources said.
Rep. Peter King, R-New York, said law enforcement had had the plot "under control" for some time.
Another law enforcement official said the plot was never "fully operational."
The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force have called a news conference for 1 p.m. to provide details of the arrests and an indictment.
CNN's Kathleen Koch and Kelli Arena contributed to this report.
Ever vigilent! We have to keep our eyes open.
did they have names like: 1. Pete, Joe, Larry
2. Hakmed, Hakeem,
3. Jose, Julio,
However, I think these guy were slightly overestimating the damage they could cause. "very few survivors"...not likely. The terminals aren't sitting on top of the fuel tanks. And it's not as easy as they think to make a large fuel tank explode. Rupture and burn, no problem, but a massive explosion like they are envisioning is just Hollywood nonsense.
On a side note, Yahoo news has a picture with this story with this caption, "A plane departs JFK International Airport in New York en route to Chicago O'Hare International..."
It's an Airbus A380...not exactly in commercial service yet. Did it make a flight to O'Hare from JFK at some time, or did the reporter just pull a file picture of a random airplane?

It must be time to issue probationary 601(h) visas to millions of illegals in the country regardless of their country of origin or their ideology.
The New York Times notices the deep split in the GOP ranks (and also reports that the Wall Street Journal’s Paul Gigot has rejected the National Review’s invitation to debate the immigration bill.)
The big split within the GOP is over the security provisions of the bill which are simply not serious, and the arguments in their defense which aren’t persuasive.
The Fort Dix Six and the Kennedy Airport Four (plus one TB patient) are illustrating in serial fashion that the U.S. has a huge security problem that begins with its porous borders. Legitimizing hundreds of thousands of hostiles in our midst —even though the vast majority of 601(h)ers are here just to work and raise families— is a non-starter to every realist about the terrorist threat facing the country.
I’m sure the moderators at CNN’s Democrat love-fest...er, “debate”...tomorrow night will ask John Edwards if he still thinks the War on Terror is “just a bumper sticker.” Maybe he’d take it more seriously if Muslims were plotting to blow up the Charleston airport.
hmmmmmm, another plot that nevedr got past the planning stages...
Either we are that good, or the dunderhead terrorists are just that, dunderheads...
Remember when we used to think of why we never used to hear of any plots like this for about 3-4 years after 9-11???
Now we get little glimpes here and there in the news...And certainly more information here on FR...
I think its great that we are finally seeing a few of these plots taken down...
If it were me...And I had a say into the disposition of the people involved in these plots...It just seems logical to be swift, public and final on what we do to these terrorists, regardless of what or whom they may be...I mean I really don’t want to see them languish in prison for too long...
Public primetime hangings would be fantastic...If you don’t want to watch, just change the channel...I’m sure someone will have an alternative source of pop-culture or some mindless MTV garbage to watch...
I’m thinking these individuals would make a fine example...
Any comments from President Bush yet?
Pretty scary. I fell asleep with Fox News on, and woke up and thought it was a dream...until I focused on what the anchors were saying :/
Now this is Bush's fault! Unlike his predecessor, George W. Bush has shown unyielding courage by standing up to our enemies all the time ducking unparalleled flack from cut and runner/surrender Democrats. You can bet the MSM, Pelosi, Kennedy, Reid will not give the President any credit for keeping America safer since 9/11 by tearing down the Gorelick wall and beefing up security.
Thank heavens for President Bush!
If they are citizens, then they should be arrested, tried for treason, and then shot.
Political Correctness has run amuck at JFK for years. This is a two year old report.

JFK Screeners Find Bomb Residue, Let Man Go Man Released After Positive Explosives Test At JFK Image
Scott Weinberger Reporting
(CBS) QUEENS A man’s sneakers tested positive for explosives at JFK airport. The sneakers were confiscated, but the man walked free. However, federal screeners didnt tell any member of law enforcement what happened for days.
The man used the name Gamal Badawi with U.S. immigration officials last Friday at JFK airport. At the time, authorities were unable to use the computerized system that takes a visitor’s fingerprints and checks it against various databases, including the terror watch list. As a result, Badawis documents checked out against the information locally available at JFK.
Federal sources told CBS 2 that Badawi passed through U.S. Customs and went into the airport to connect to a Delta flight to Iowa via Chicago. As he went through security, a Transportation Security Administration screener pulled Badawi out of the line.
Suspicious Sneakers
Badawi was wearing high-top sneakers that, CBS 2 was told, had tape around them and rubber-bands sticking out of them. The screener told Badawi to take off his sneakers. They were then checked for explosives, and airport sources told us that the reading for explosives was off the charts. “The highest ever,” one federal source explained.

3 to Be Extradited in Alleged JFK Plot
08.06.07
Excerpt
A judge Monday ordered three men extradited to the U.S. to face charges in an alleged plot to attack New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, and a confidential U.S. document said they planned to seek help from Iran.
Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls rejected without comment a defense argument that the men could not be extradited on conspiracy charges under Trinidadian law.
Taped conversations between the alleged conspirators show they planned to seek Tehran’s help in a strike intended to dwarf the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, according to a 28-page document signed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marshall C. Miller and delivered to lawyers here.
