I continue to be amazed how much the Left enjoys attacking its own nation!

That's not why they were silent. They were silent because just a year or two before, when clinton was President and they knew he would not go after Saddam, they had strongly backed doing so.
That is why they were silent.

"This chamber is, for the most part, silent on the subject of Senator Robert Byrd being a former KKK member: ominously, dreadfully silent. There is no debate, no discussion, no attempt to lay out for the nation the pros and cons of this particular war against full fledged racists. There is nothing. We stand passively mute in the US Senate and wonder why do we tolerate a former KKK member yet rip Trent Lott to shreads for a minor league blooper."

"What has happened to our country?" People are trying to figure out what has gone wrong in our democracy and how we can fix it. I am asking the same thing, but for completely different reasons than algore is.
To: Aussie Dasher
They were silent, Mr. Gore, because every Democrat in the Senate had called upon President Clinton to send ground troops into Iraq. They were silent because it was the right thing to do, and guess what, we won.
Sorry, I forget, when you’re a party of losers, winning is losing.

Robert Byrd of West Virginia, stood on the Senate floor and said: "This chamber is, for the most part, silent: ominously, dreadfully silent.
When the Grand Dragon speaks, aren't the rest of the Klan supposed to be silent?

You mean, the same guy that “Love Story” was written about? The same guy who discovered the Love Canal problem in New York? The same guy who invented the internet?
Yeah, this is that guy.

I guess wearing that sheet under the hot sun speeded up the process.

Ah, one truly beautiful part of history is the role that FR and a handful of FReepers played in preventing the Dade County Vote Cook-In from achieving it’s usual success.

Yup... at that time, FR had real clout. The Dade County chad count was such a threat to this country - we’re really lucky to have escaped the disaster of algore in 2000.
