Turkish Mosque’s Chief Threatens Violent Revolt in Amsterdam
AINA ^ | 5-22-2007 | AINA
Posted on 06/07/2007 12:33:22 PM PDT by Eurotwit
THE HAGUE — If Amsterdam city council bars construction of the Westermoskee mosque, a great demonstration of Turks from throughout Europe will be held. The possibility of this degenerating into violence cannot be ruled out, the Turkish organisation Milli Gorus warns.
The controversial Westermoskee in Amsterdam will be built come what may, said Fatih Dag of the Turkish mosque organisation in Trouw newspaper. If the government blocks its building, Milli Gorus will call on Turks throughout the whole of Europe to demonstrate. Dag hopes this would be a peaceful procession, but fears it could get out of hand. “Our people are emotional and someone crazy can just be walking among them,” he said in the newspaper.
The building of the 42 metre tall, 18-million euros Neo-Ottoman Westermoskee was blocked months ago after Milli Gorus’ orthodox German head office replaced management in Amsterdam. After that, reports surfaced that Milli Gorus had wheedled billions of euros out of Turks since the 1990s by having them invest in Islamic investment funds.
Amsterdam politicians advised against the building of the new Westermoskee in the 1990s for fears of the orthodox course, but after much lobbying, the project was last year dubbed a symbol of integration by the then Justice Minster Donner, who laid the foundation-stone. Last week, it was made known that municipal authorities and Milli Gorus had suspended their cooperation on the building anyway.
If the licence for the mosque is definitively withdrawn, this would be “extremely foolish,” warns Dag. “I will then immediately call for a demonstration. If every Milli Gorus mosque in Europe sends a bus, it will certainly be busy. I have not tipped off Al Jazeera, but they will certainly get wind of it, and I will speak to them. That will go out to the entire Arabic world, cross my heart. All Muslims have a satellite dish, so they will see that a beautiful project for Muslims is being forbidden here.”
“Do not forget”, added Dag in Trouw, “that we began the project with a number of Turks, but with all the hindrance, it has now become a matter for many Muslims throughout the Netherlands. I expect a revolt among them, naturally within the legal boundaries, but still: Our people are more emotional than you Europeans. And there can be a crazy person among them.”
Amsterdam’s Mayor Cohen declined to comment on the apparent threats by Dag. According to his spokesman, the mayor does however want to hear “what is going on” personally from Dag.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2007
WWW.USDOJ.GOV
Philadelphia Woman Pleads Guilty to Federal Hate Crime
WASHINGTON A Philadelphia woman, Kia Reid, pleaded guilty today to committing a federal hate crime by sending a note threatening violence to her Arab-American supervisor at work, in an attempt to interfere with the supervisors federally protected employment activity. The announcement was made jointly by Wan J. Kim, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Departments Civil Rights Division and U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Meehan, for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24, 2007.
The single-count information charges that during the early-morning hours of Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, Reid left an anonymous threatening letter in her supervisors office at the Sheraton Suites Hotel in Philadelphia. Reid had affixed words and phrases which appeared to be cut from publications, including the phrases REMEMBER 9/11, you and your kids will pay, tie onto the fence, strategically planned, and death.
Under the Departments initiative to combat backlash crimes following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Division has investigated more than 750 backlash crimes involving violence and threats aimed at individuals perceived to be Arab, Muslim, Sikh, or South Asian. This initiative has led to numerous prosecutions.
It is twisted to believe that threats or violence against innocent Arab or Muslim individuals somehow avenge the terrorist attacks of 9/11, said Wan J. Kim, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. Our system of justice will not permit threats against innocents. The Justice Department will remain committed to vigorously prosecuting these crimes.
Reid faces a maximum term of one year in prison, a one-year period of supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.
Prosecuting the perpetrators of bias-motivated crimes is a top priority of the Justice Department. Since 2001, the Civil Rights Division has charged 165 defendants in 105 cases of bias-motivated crimes.
The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael Schwartz and Jeffrey Whitt and Civil Rights Division Trial Attorney Eric L. Gibson.

“Horror Under The Head Scarf”
By Stephen Brown
FrontPageMagazine.com | June 26, 2007
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Honor murder is not an insignificant problem in Germany. The Federal Crime Office (Germanys FBI) registered 48 honor homicides between 1996 and 2006 with a further 22 people surviving attempted honor killings. The youngest victim was a 14-year-old, married Muslim girl. And like her, most of the victims were young, Muslim women, while a few were men.
An additional two honor killings were barely averted only last March in Munich when another Turkish man, living in Germany for 32 years, tried to kill his 18-year-old daughter and her German boyfriend on a busy open street. The father had disapproved of the daughters relationship, beaten her many times and had threatened to kill her. The young couple managed to escape the attack and contact the police.”

“Held in Iran, American Says She’s a Hostage”
June 26, 2007 - 4:33am
“Editor’s Note: Iranian-American citizen Parnaz Azima has been held in Iran for the past five months under constant surveillance. In an exclusive interview, WTOP National Security Correspondent J.J. Green talks with Azima about her experience.”
J.J. Green, WTOP Radio
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “TEHRAN, Iran — Her voice on the phone is clear, calm and bright. You can hear sounds of movements around her — a voice, a door and faint street sounds. You can almost imagine her sitting in a large, echoey room on a comfortable couch with all the touches of home all around.
Parnaz Azima is at her mother’s home in Tehran, but she’s not free. She is one of five Iranian-American citizens being held in Iran.
“Somehow, yes, we are hostages,” Azima says when asked about their status.”

Iran bombers attack Our Boys

Iran bombers attack Our Boys
IRANIAN forces are being choppered over the Iraqi border to bomb Our Boys, intelligence chiefs say.
Military experts claim this worrying move means we are at WAR with Iran in all but name.
Last night an intelligence source told The Sun: It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran but nobody has officially declared it.
We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us.
It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot. *
Our Boys picked up the Iranian helicopters on radar crossing into empty desert.
The sightings have been confirmed to The Sun by very senior military sources.
At least two Brit squaddies are thought to have been killed by bombs planted during these incursions into Maysan province Corporal Ben Leaning, 24, and Trooper Kristen Turton, 27.
A further 44 British deaths have also been linked to the highly advanced bombs, rockets and mortars which originated in Iran.
Coming so swiftly after the kidnap of 15 Royal Navy sailors in the Gulf, our revelation will send strained relations between London and Tehran plummeting further.
(Excerpt) Read more at thesun.co.uk ...
That this report is being released by the tabloid Sun has generated some questions regarding the accuracy and truthfulness of the article. OTOH, this would fit the pattern - Brits/US showing signs of weakness, the threat of expanded operations supported by Iran, Mookie showing back up in Iraq after hiding in Iran, increased Iranian support of terrorists in Lebanon, Gaza, etc. Iran may think that we lack the will to respond agressively and are believing their own propaganda. Time will tell.
DELAWARE, Ohio - A rest area along I-71 just south of Delaware was evacuated and closed for hours as investigators blew up an apparent pipe bomb.
A trucker found the foot-long PVC pipe attached to a support bar of his truck. The pipe was approximately a foot long and capped on both ends. It was attached to the truck with plastic ties.
Written on the pipe were the words, "Pipe bomb. Call 911. Ready to explode."
The bomb squad used their detonating robot to remove the pipe and blow it up. Inside, they found the registration papers for the truck. Investigators say someone may have written on the container as a hoax.
After further investigation the rest stop was re-opened about 9:30 p.m.
