Chicago Priest Calls for Murder of Gun Shop Owner
Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA): ^ | May 29, 2007 | ISRA Press Release

Posted on 05/29/2007 12:03:57 PM PDT by skimbell

Nobody expected Saturday's Operation PUSH protest at Chuck's Gun Shop & Range to be anything other than a circus of the bizarre. However, nobody anticipated that an address by a Chicago priest would include a call for the murder of a suburban gun shop owner and legislators who oppose gun control.

During an address at an anti-gun rally in front of Chuck's, Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina's Church, exhorted the crowd to "drag" shop owner, John Riggio, from his shop "like a rat" and "snuff" him. Rev. Pfleger went on to tell the crowd that legislators that vote against gun control legislation should be "snuffed"...

Personally, I have no desire to own or shoot a 10mm. Too much recoil and muzzle flip
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever shot an old colt officer’s model 45? How about a Kahr PM9? The first is a 45 caliber. THe second is a 9mm. My glock model 29(baby 10mm) recoils slightly less than either of these. I’ve taken all three into the woods and tested them one by one. Then passed them around to buddies for their opinions. It was unanimous. The Kahr PM9 recoils the most, the 10mm recoils the least. Not by much. It’s practically a tie.
Glocks have fast triggers too. Not as fast as a colt 1911 or a beretta FS92/M9, but faster than most and excellent sights. The quality of the sights affects my speed more than recoil or trigger. The biggest downfall of a glock, in my opinion, is it’s width. They are too wide to tuck inside your belt. This is where the PM9 excels. But I can’t hit a thing with it. It’s not the gun’s fault either. I’ve had other people shoot it for me while I watch and they shoot it fine. But I can’t. I think the grip is just too small for me.
Anyway, all the talk about 10mm is just that. It doesn’t recoil like they say. You should try one. YOu’ll see. Being a sig fan, I’m surprised you aren’t bragging up the 357.
I've never been a big fan of the "hot" rounds like the 10mm or the .357 Sig. I've always felt that target indexing and fast target re-acquisition with improved hits is more important than missing with a more potent round.
Ammo cost is another factor as well.
As for a terrific trigger. I shot a friends Sig-Sauer P226 X-5 Competition chambered in 9mm, wearing Nill Rhomlas wood Bianchi/PPC grips. What a gun. The quality is phenomenal. If I had $2,700, one would be in our house.
If you want a great carry gun, look at the Sig P239. It comes in a variety of calibers, trigger configurations and grip options.
I was just looking at a 239 2weeks ago. The one I was looking at was plain flat black. They wanted $800+ for it. I hear ya on ammo cost. That’s why I’m gettin a .40S&W converstion kit for the glock. I think. Still thinking on that.
If you want accuracy, the old sig 210 is supposed to be the best.
But the 357 is not a big kicking round. The reason why people like it is the flat trajectory and improved accuracy. They claim a young girl with no firarm experience and very little arm strength can pick up a .357 sig and shoot like a pro the first time. I don’t know what it is about the round that is supposed to make it more accurate, but that’s what they say. I’ve never shot one. I’ve often wondered if it could really be that much different than a 9mm+P.
Necked down cartridges are supposed to feed more reliably though. It’s got that for it.
What I definitely don’t want is another double action pistol. My kahr is DAO and I hate it. The glock is tollerable but that’s because it’s not a true double action.
I haven't shot the .357 Sig yet either. The folks on SigForum report it is LOUD and a lot of flame. If you miss the BG, you'll scare the shit out of him!
Trigger topic: I prefer the DA/SA with decocker. The first trigger pull is long and at 11# which is good in a SHTF adrenaline-pumping situation. Subsequent pulls are at 4#.
That's why all my Sigs and HKs have triggers configured that way.
This pistol has the most comfortable grip for me of any pistol I've held. H&K P2000 V3
I do like the decocker type mechanism. My beretta has one. I tested an HK once at a shooting range. It was a 45 cal with the threaded barrel for a suppressor. I didn’t care for it at the time. But that was because I was only used to shooting colt government models back then. I tested a glock 17 on the same visit. I didn’t care for either one. I was impressed by glock sights though. It took me a long long time to get used to polymer frames and double stack mags...blocky grips and top heavy guns. Sometimes I still think I’m wasting my time with them and should go back to the colt. I would too if the colt’s safety weren’t so awkward in a panic.
I am deeply ashamed to say he is a Catholic priest, AND a well-known figure on the bizzarro left and (I'm Catholic, I'm allowed to say this) a flamin' heretic as well. I mean, in purely churchly, ecclesiastical matters, this guy is a constant offender and a perpetual scandal..
He needs to be relieved of his post, even, if for no other reason, to shield the Church from what is someday going to be a whopping legal liability.
The irony here is rather rich. The principle protection offered to the innocent by the Second Amendment is protection from murderous demagogues such as this priest. He's the reason we need it, not rampaging deer or vicious ducks. He's the reason owning a firearm designed to use on people is, sadly, a very prudent idea. If you have one you may not need it; if you don't, you're like 900,000 people in Rwanda when the Pflegers got done ranting - helpless, and then dead.
I do notice nobody seemed eager to be the first one through the door. Funny how that works out.
There’s a new handgun from walther called the PPS. I’m going to try to find one for a test drive. If I like it i’ll be trading in my kahr PM9 for it. I swear there’s someone posting on FR with pics of herself on her profile page that looks just like your daughter.
The PPS is going to be a 9mm. I hope it works better than their jam-o-matic PPK series. I had two and they were the most unreliable guns I ever owned. That's when I got my Sig P232.
HK is coming out with their new P3000.
It looks like a newer version of my P2000.
If you see it again, please ping me.
Earth to Holy Father: you got a little infection here needs stamping out.
Don't bother transferring the little offender to another locale. You know what happened the last time that was tried -- are you still selling off church property to pay the victims?
You wrote: “Earth to Holy Father: you got a little infection here needs stamping out.”
Nope. This is the bishop’s problem. Most likely the pope will never even hear about it.
“Don’t bother transferring the little offender to another locale.”
Pope Benedict XVI didn’t and doesn’t do that.
“You know what happened the last time that was tried...”
How could we not know?
” — are you still selling off church property to pay the victims?”
Nope. I have never had to sell off Church property nor has the pope. You are clearly confused. I’m not surprised.
I’m in the habit of changing out the safeties on 1911’s because I’m left-handed. I realize most people don’t want to be forced into changing items on their handguns since they should be perfect when they are bought. I just think it’s part of the charm of the 1911’s.
Also, when shooting a 1911, your grip should be such that your thumb rides on the top of the safety. It allows a higher hold and less muzzle flip.
Well, Well, havn’t seen you around here for awhile. I think the last time I saw your screen name on here I was advocating the 1911 and “everything else was nonsense”, haha. Well, I guess I got converted. For concealed carry, I’m no longer such a big fan of the 1911. I haven’t figured out just what I do prefer yet. I currenly have a kahr PM9...don’t care much for the trigger. I think I’m gonna try a new walther PPS. If I’m not happy with that I don’t know what I’m gonna do. Maybe go get a J-frame.
I recently heard the military is doing evaluations for a replacement for the M9 beretta. Got any predictions? Heard any rumors? Supposedly this time they are demanding a .45ACP with interchangeable backstraps to adjust for hand sizes and minimum of loose small parts to lose when disassembling.
