HALL OF FAME #19 THE WEEKEND THREAD T.G.I.F. at the Finest |
Every Thursday at the Finest |
Toucing Tribute @ 32.
I truly hate paying that toll too. Grand Island has no free access at all. You either pay New York State or swim. They don’t even maintain the bridges well. I cannot remember a single summer when they didn’t have at least one lane closed and being fixed on a lowest bidder budget.
Thank you, kitty.
It will save you a lot of time, believe me, to start saving and filing.. Of course I can go on a hunt for the right background color and spend hours experimenting...trying this and that..
Lately I can’t do that often as my back rebels.
Have fun with it. I have.
Memorial Day Greetings to my FRiends at FR’s Finest.
Has been a non-stop long weekend in our little corner of the world. Mrsdd had a birthday on Friday and as a special gift and surprise, I arranged for her sis to join us.
Mrsdd and I took her up to the Sacramento Airport yesterday afternoon for her return trip home. Mrsdd was able to go to the boarding area to wait with her for her departure. While they were up in the boarding area, I meandered around the lobby/reception area of Terminal B.
Saw a gentleman wearing a t-shirt with the message, “Old Army Veteran.” I once again overcame my shyness { :) } and walked over to extend a thank you to a fellow Vet. I found out he was awaiting the arrival of his son - coming home for two weeks leave from Iraq.
I stayed close to the area to catch the reunion first-hand. Two soldiers came down the escalator together dressed in camis. I couldn’t help myself - I started clapping as they approached. One of them greeted the aforemention Old Army Veteran and as the other looked me in the eye and smiled, I extended a hand to greet him and thank him for his service to our country. The father/son reunion was complete and as they walked by I again started clapping and extended a greeting.
A short while later, another soldier in camis, his wife and child in a stroller emerged from the elevator. You’d think since no one had joined me in applauding these returning heroes, that I would stiffle my hand-clapping -—WRONG! I started in again.
I wish I lived a lot closer than the 80 miles to the airport so I could make many more trips to welcome the Pride of America - even if I’m still the only one there for them.
I do have to admit, though, I got a bit misty-eyed and the “Thank You” came out in a bit of a broken voice.
Y’all going to the airport anytime soon? Take the time to arrive early or leave later. Y’all may be able to greet one of these heroes in person.
I became a hero in mrsdd’s eyes for bringing her sis to visit, but I met THREE true heroes yesterday.
May your Memorial Day be Blessed.
Happy Memorial Day Majee.:)

That is a wonderful story, Dave! Thank
you for sharing it with us.
I would love to be a member of one of
those groups that goes to the airport to
greet the soldiers, but we don’t have one
here. *sigh*
WooHoo Mayor! Job well done! Looking quite dapper as well! *Hugs*
Good Evening Mayor.
You are welcome.:)
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Each year, Americans remember those brave-hearted souls who fought and gave their lives so that you and I would have the rights and privileges of living in a free country. Remembering is important. In fact, God instructs His people on many occasions in the Old Testament to remember from whence they came and to remember His providence. It is by the mighty hand of God that we are saved, we are protected, and we are free to live in the Land of the Brave. Never take that freedom for granted, my friend. It is a precious commodity for which the world hungers, and it is a powerful charge for you and I to protect.
ACTION POINT:
Do you know of someone in your life who has served in the armed forces of this country? Make it a point this week to express to them your gratitude for their service.
ADRIAN ROGERS
So your from this area? I live on the island and have to go thru them every day sometimes more than once.
Excellent DD, I wish I could hang out at mine and just meet them coming home. We always find out after they arrive at the airport. I would do the same as you.
Thank you my FRiend!
Thank you... really raising a stink here for sure... : )
