So how did An Inconvenient Truth become required classroom viewing?
National Post/Live Daily ^ | 5-19-2007 | Kevin Libin

First it was his world history class. Then he saw it in his economics class. And his world issues class. And his environment class. In total, 18-year-old McKenzie, a Northern Ontario high schooler, says he has had the film An Inconvenient Truth shown to him by four different teachers this year.

"I really don't understand why they keep showing it," says McKenzie (his parents asked that his last name not be used). "I've spoken to the principal about it, and he said that teachers are instructed to present it as a debate. But every time we've seen it, well, one teacher said this is basically a two-sided debate, but this movie really gives you the best idea of what's going on."

McKenzie says he has educated himself enough about both sides of the climate- change controversy to know that the Al Gore movie is too one-sided to be taught as fact. Even scientists who back Mr. Gore's message admit they're uncomfortable with liberties the politician takes with "science" in the film. But, McKenzie says most of his classmates are credulous. His teachers are not much more discerning. "They don't know there's another side to the argument," he says. McKenzie's mother was outraged to find out that Mr. Gore's film was being presented as fact in her son's classroom. "This is just being poured into kids' brains instead of letting them know there's a debate going on," she says. "An educational system falls down when they start taking one side."

Actually I think the film on “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” exposes the fraud.

My only economics class was taught in a church university and the professor was definitely not a Marxist. My out-of-school learning has mostly come from reading Sowell, Friedman and a few others. But, scratch the surface and, unfortunately, a lot of teachers are at least socialist at heart, especially those who teach in the high school “soft science” courses. You ought to have seen my daughter’s U.S. history teacher—a Ph.D. from Berkeley. She was one of the reasons I pulled her out of public school for her last year and a half.

My suspicion is that the kids read newspaper and magazine articles and discuss them. Of course, no one teacher could be an expert enough to teach anything useful on what must be a huge range of discussions. If, and that’s a big if, the teacher taught the kids to be skeptical, I would applaud such a class but I suspect it is merely the “party line” and the term assignment is to go participate in some liberal-leaning public demonstration.

I had a Marxist prof who taught Ancient English Lit. He wore a red star on his lapel every class. And he wore the same clothes every class, all worker blue denim. Tenured.

By the way, he also allowed us to select our own grades at the end of the term.

Have you ever noticed how many people say almost the exact words: I just saw Al Gore’s movie and I feel I must do something....

Be it on blogs, forums, etc.. people are almost like robots on this.... Coincidence? I don’t think so..

Do a Google search for ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and ‘Subliminal Messages’ (or NLP) or, if you can find a downloaded copy of the movie, upload it in Flash, Sony Vegas, or another program where you can see it frame by frame.. very shocking what is put in this movie...

.. More info to come as I can get some screenshots on the latter item... I may float that to Matt Drudge first..

The sad thing is that Al Gore’s propaganda film has gained any respectability. I know several college professors, both in the sciences, who totally support Al Gore’s wild claims, despite the mounting evidence to its fallacy.

The truth is , most young teachers are total morons and products of Leftist/Marsist run colleges. They are already brainwashed and they carry that leftist mission right into the classroom. In my school there are still a few “old school” teachers who have some education and are reasonable , logical people( me and 2 other are conservatives -the rest are Dem hacks and “friends “ of the local Dem machine ). The young teachers are barely more educated than the kids. Few have ANY clue as to history ( which is no longer taught in college for the most part) They parrot their Marist mentors lies and pass it on to YOUR KIDS. The system has been completely taken over by the far left . Go to your local high school and talk to the teachers , you’ll be in for a BIG BIG shock.

Not to get into a dispute, but I was referring to the book "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", which is anti-Semitic. The movie you refer to titled "The Protocols of Zion" IIRC.

Thank goodness that I no longer have kids in school. I have a son that has already been brain washed in college and working on de-programming him now.

I don’t know why these kids keep watching movies in school. During our Christmas party, we saw a Disney film...I remember seeing That Darn Cat out of the eight movies that I saw during my years at Catholic Grade School. Then in Catholic High School, my American Government teacher showed us Legal Eagles. Now I don’t remember the movie much because we had to see it over two or three days so not much was learned from it and I am not even sure if it was a liberal or conservative movie. Anyway, I hardly think these kids are getting much from Al Gore’s movie because kids hate facts and figures on a powerpoint slide and they probably saw it over a number of days. I still think it is disgusting that they would show the movie in the first place.

The purpose of government schools is indoctrination. People need to bite the bullet and pull their kids out. Yes, it is an expensive sacrifice. But it is part of the fight for liberty. It’s not as much sacrifice as those who fight for liberty in the armed forces...

Once it becomes socialist propaganda it becomes a tool for the left. Education has become no more than indoctrination of leftist idealism.

I remember reading about a Science Teacher who taught a class on day one of the year about a dinosaur fossil. He told them it was blue with green stripes. It sang a song a lot like a modern-day robin, and traveled in V-shaped herds. They also reviewed the skeletal structure of the animal.

The next day he gave them a quiz. He gave everyone who talked about the color of the animal, its singing, or the V-shaped herds a zero. The object was to teach them to critically examine everything they are taught.

Well it doesn’t matter much to me if it doesn’t matter to JR and the mods.

Odd this is coming out of Canada. Surely this is happening in the US as well, but the US media seems to view AlGore as some kind of deity, so they probably don’t see anything wrong with it.

My girls got to see Fahrenheit 911 (by that other fat idiot) their last year of high school. One of them still hasn’t gotten over it.
