Its Worse Than You Think
By The Editors
The immigration bill, according to its critics, hands out amnesty to illegal immigrants as soon as some ineffectual steps toward enforcement are taken. Dont believe it. The bill provides amnesty as soon as it is enacted.
The Bush administration wants to divert attention from this fact by talking about Z visas, and some of the critics have fallen into this trap. But the government will start issuing those visas only after it meets its enforcement benchmarks if that ever happens. Illegal immigrants are eligible for probationary legal status, on the other hand, as soon as the bill passes. The government has only one business day to run a background check on people applying for this status.
Even those illegal immigrants who have already gotten deportation orders are eligible for this status, if the Department of Homeland Security concludes that deportation would cause extreme hardship to the illegal immigrant or his family. As soon as the bill passes, deportation judges are out of work, as a practical matter, and states, localities, and federal agents will no longer be enforcing immigration laws.
What happens if the government never meets its benchmarks? Does anyone really believe that the government will, at that point, make all of the illegal immigrants who have gotten probationary legal status illegal again?
The bill provides amnesty immediately, and forever; the triggers and benchmarks for law enforcement are meaningless; and no one who votes for the bill has any excuse for not knowing these things.
How to make this problem go away, and make money while doing it:
Employers Cite Problems With Immigration Bill After Crafting It
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1836942/posts?page=53#53
Employers, who helped shape a major immigration bill over the last three months, said today that they were unhappy with the result because it would not cure the severe labor shortages they foresee in the coming decade. They are weighing anticipated problems against current social ills. Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, Im going to point out that the victims family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and theyll all simply want to go back home.
Gawd... it REALLY is worse than I thought! I'll continue writing and calling tonight . If this thing passes I am thourgh with the GOP forever.
I knew the devil must be in the details of noneforcement somewhere, just like the fence bill the GOP tried to fool us with before the '06 election.
And there it is. Perpetual amnesty from Day One!
Tony Snow knows it. Chertoff knows it. Yet they spout just the opposite publicly. Reprehensible.
It’s freakin SURRENDER is all it is.
severe labor shortages
i.e. not enough slaves
You are right on the mark.
Unfortunately the good ones are outnumbered by the liberal dems and some liberal repubs.
Yes there is a shortage of workers.
There are 70 million Americans missing today of which roughly 35 million would be working age.
They were aborted.
They were aborted mainly because women today need to help pay the bills.
And babies get in the way of having to go to the workplace.
About 16% of pay goes to federal income tax (modest income),
12.5% to Social Security taxes (including employer’s half),
2.4% to Medicare,
23% corporate tax embedded in retail pricing.
Don’t even think about property taxes.
More than 50% of pay going to taxes. (But we’re so much better than Fwance)
So women have to go earn wages,
rather than staying home to raise a family.
Difficult to afford a family.
Healthcare insurance? You should be so lucky. And if you are that lucky try the copays when junior gets a fever.
High taxes means living is tense.
High taxes =====> not many babies
Bring in the Mexicanos.
Because if we get hungry we get angry.
And if we get angry
the aristocracy will feel insecure.
It’s worse that sad it SICK and, as the article concludes, there is NO reason for anyone who votes for it not to know this.
Excellant idea! I shall do exactly that!

Yep, good point. There are certain political things that can be done to poison the “undocumented worker” well.
