It's Political Suicide for the GOP John LeBoutillier Monday, May 21, 2007
We are witnessing political self-immolation on a major scale.
Right in front of our eyes we are witnessing the Bush-McCain Forces kill themselves politically and, unfortunately, in the process they may kill any chances the GOP ever had of regaining Congress or keeping the White House in 2008.
Last week's "deal" for what is known as Comprehensive Immigration Reform, code for total amnesty for all law-breakers in hopes of getting their votes once they are given the vote, is the biggest act of political suicide we have seen since . . . ah . . . well . . . since Bush launched us into Iraq.
In fact, these two actions, the pre-emptive and totally unnecessary invasion of a country that had not attacked us and this disgusting act of border treason, solidify Bush as the worst Republican president ever and the man who has done more damage to our nation than any other.
For decades, LBJ had that honor as Vietnam and the so-called Great Society have haunted us for 40 years. But what George. W. Bush has done to every institution he has touched is truly tragic:
Our nation's reputation around the world: shattered. We are reviled, disrespected and loathed thanks to his arrogant treatment of all other countries. (Even our most loyal ally, England, has seen Tony Blair ruined by his support of Bush's Iraq policy.)
Our military: crippled by a useless war with no end, and equally damaged by a weak military leadership without the guts to tell Bush that Iraq can't and won't work. It will take a generation, just like after Vietnam, to rebuild our Army in particular. Story Continues Below
The Republican Party: riding high across the board when he became president. Today? A shell of its former self. An empty vessel which stands for nothing. A party which seems to favor the rich over all others. A party of the Fortune 500 Board Rooms. Period. His father, the first President Bush, so screwed things up that he gave us Bill Clinton in 1992. God knows what is coming next year because of the misguided George W. Bush administration. He has made lefties like Hillary, Edwards, and Obama suddenly competitive when they should be seen as so far to the left that they'd have no chance.
The American people: shattered with disgust over Bush, the government, the war, the lack-of-caring for our injured troops, and the blatant lies we have been told for years by Washington, D.C. Their cynicism has returned and who can blame them? One note: Some readers always like to attack Bill Clinton and call him the worst president ever. Well, guess what? His awful behavior, Monica, cigars, "travelgate," and all the rest were indeed abominable. His amorality is why Bush won over Gore in 2000; Bush's pledge to restore "honor and dignity to the White House' resonated. But this presidency has done much more irreparable harm to us all, and to our country.
9/11 was a golden opportunity a defining moment for George W. Bush to take a suddenly re-untied nation and use that unity for great purposes.
Instead he frittered it all away on Iraq. And he didn't need to.
So much of the Republican Party has become liberal that it makes little difference who sits in the White House anyway. This article only mentions Bush and McCain as being detrimental to conservatism, but the party is crawling with RINOs. The new Republican hero is one Rudy Giuliani, the most flaming liberal to ever call himself a Republican. Domestically, the man stands for just about everything that Ted Kennedy and John Kerry stand for. As for the war on terror I don't care what he says, because until we stop the war of terror waged against American babies, and close our borders and completely remake our immigration laws, our country will continue to spiral into Hell. The Republican party, for all intents and purposes, has become a party of liberals.
"Come one, come all, your cheap labor is good for our economy. Come, break our laws and walk free, get free stuff, ride free on the backs of overburdoned taxpayers, get arrested and get a free pass, slither over our borders like snakes and get amnesty, and don't worry about our Border Patrol Agents, we will put them in prison if they do their jobs too well".
America has been sold to the world like a whore for thirty pieces of silver, by Republicans and Democrats alike.
Anything that NewsMax prints or says I consider helping the left and the Islamic Terrorist.
He states that GW did not do the correct thing after 9 - 11 but all I see are the Democrats who hate GW and Christians and want the terrorist to win along with the media who are telling lies on a daily basis to support al-Qaeda. I long ago stopped my subscription to NewsMax and block their web site from my computer after I considered their attacks a help to the Islamic Fascist.
I noticed that GWB is often being called “the worst Republican president ever.” People just can’t yet put him below GA Jimmuh’.
I agree Bush one was a good president. One mistake, "read my lips". Big Big Big mistake.
Jonestown was a cult center. Are the top GOP guys also cultists, Globalists, or are they true blue Americans? Well, the answers all come out in the wash. Is Washington in the final rinse cycle? Will everything come out pink?
If it does, and it certainly appears it has, it would be prudent to remember that there are REAL REPUBLICANS out here. Real Republicans who stand for pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Constitution, pro-America.
And there is a real Republican who is a truly consistent Conservative running for President. To keep our freedoms, to retain our sovereignty, for peace through strength, Duncan Hunter is our man. There is nothing “pink” about Duncan Hunter!
There are really no words to describe this. It is truly a sad day for the GOP.
‘I fail to see how Bush 41 “so screwed things up”.’
He lost the Reaganites, then he lost the taxpayers, then he lost his bid for a second term....which gave us the co Presidency’, a dozen scandals, and a juvenile insistence that ‘terrorism was a law enforcement problem’.
“Read my lips, no new taxes’ was his claim in 1988.
Which he then went back on.
That’s ironic because LeBoutillier’s mother is a cousin of the late John Tower, whom the first Bush tried to make secretary of defense. But Sam Nunn said “No”.
It’s utterly astounding how stupid the leaders of the GOP are.
Diogenes going through the streets of small towns today would apparently have trouble finding real conservatives even with his lamp lit — they are so few as to be hidden away.
I've always believed there was a quid pro quo between them, but I have never seen any evidence.
Do you have a link to whatever it is you are talking about?
I agree that Bush I ran a pretty sorry campaign, giving the impression that the economy was in the doldrums. But running a poor campaign is not he same as "screwing up the country".
I am suggesting that the "screwed up the country" remark seriously undercuts the author's credibility.
Shamnesty is a bad deal for the GOP even if it think it’ll please its off-whoring cheap labor CEO donors.
The American People, rightly sensing its threat, will punish the GOP if this goes through, even if it’s fundamentally Dimocrat in origin, because WE ELECTED THEM AS REPUBLICANS TO STOP SUICIDAL EXCESSES LIKE THIS.
Your buddies want cheap labor? Legal workers will now have to be paid minimum wage. D’oh!
The illegals will be grateful to the GOP, and vote for them? RIGHT! They will run to the politicos who throw them the most free money. Guess who that would be?
Wasn’t Henry Ross Perot born in AR — in Texarkana (it may have been the Texas side)? He may have had a secret desire to see a native Arkansan be president. And maybe he’s waiting for one who once called AR home to be next.
The American people do not like being lied to.
Politicians of all stripes better learn this, and learn it fast.
You are so right: all the American people know to do is wipe out the GOP in 2008 — to punish it for the GWB fiasco, just like they did in 1976 in electing the hopeful (in their eyes) GA Jimmuh’. They are incapable of seizing control of the GOP and returning it to its roots — don’t know the way to do that.
Chicken Little blathering from LeBott and Malkin won't get anything accomplished. Getting the facts out will. Letting our voice be heard- loud and clear- will.
Thankfully, they did not rush this vote through real quick. This gives us plenty of time to lobby our Congressmen and Senators.
“No, Ross Perot gave us Clinton42.
Twice.
On purpose”
Well, ask yourself, Who gave us Ross Perot?
Answer: The incompetent milquetoast George HW Bush, who also deep-sixed his own party, just like his son is doing.
