Nice try, but the lumber companies cannot find American workers and have tried for 20 years.

You're from Oregon and make that nonsense statement?

How exactly is MNJ an “apologist”?

Just because he doesn’t want to toss the baby out with the bathwater somehow makes him a RINO wannabe?

I don’t think so.

What is tearing this party apart is the 100%’ers who believe that the Republican party will either bend to their will 100% of the time or they are taking their vote elsewhere.

It’s the Conservative version of what we mock at DU all the time.

But instead of folks threatening to divide the vote by going to Nader or the Green Party...the folks here threaten to take their football and go play footsie with the RuPalists or the Constitution Party folks.

Which in the end is exactly what the Democrats woule LOVE to see happen...a certain amount of Conservatives get pisse and stay at home...or vote third party...just like they did in 1992 and ‘96.

You see how well that strategery worked for us then right?

I am sorry, I have spent all the time I care to today speaking truth to whiners. IF you can actually post an intellectually coherent thoughtful post, do so. IF all you can do is scream intellectually infantile slogans and absurd talk radio talking points don’t waste our time.

This is a thread for people that THINK, since you are incapable of that, go spew your idiotic Democrat party propaganda slogans elsewhere.

Yup they’ve been bought off and the currency is fear. Fear of being labeled a racist by the DBM and these open border crowd folks.

They fear that more than they do the wrath of the people that put them in office.

All of us have emotional buttons, these emotional buttons are different for each person. I agree with Snugs that it is best to be civil, no matter how hard it is. At FR we generally are “uncivil” to the Clintons, I my self support this “uncivility” towards people based on my personal beliefs.

Angkor is absolutely correct that the best time to redress government’s follies is in the primaries. There should never be any “11th commandment” about not attacking a fellow republican during the primaries. Arlen Spector is a prime example of someone who needed to be taken out. To his chagrin the support his fellow “conservative” in Pennsylvania gave Arlen Spector during the primaries, I believe, caused his defeat two years later. Now we here in Texas are once again heaving to live with a “RINO” KBH. It is important that we fight in the primaries and that we find people with our principles and urge them to run for these positions. We need to support then financially when they choose to run.

In the general elections I may very well vote for a Democrat if the Republican running is a RINO. The hypocrisy of people Sandra Day O’Conner boil my blood to such an extent that Anarchy is preferred.

How many fools in Congress today.. one, two and three decades younger than he was in 1994 ... are but scrawled commas to his perfect paragraphs. 83 years old.

Beautifully said. Wonderful post.

Nice try, but the lumber companies cannot find American workers and have tried for 20 years. They can barely keep Mexican labor before they head down the road for easier work.

I bet that most of the people in the lumber business are still American citizens. If they offer competitive wages, they will have no shortage of workers. The price of lumber may go up, but that is the way capitalism works.

Your exploiting the worker argument sounds vaguely Marxist. How expensive you willing to make a house??

If you import cheap labor that is outside the legal labor market, you can undercut your competition. Illegals may not be paying income taxes, SS, and are unable to challenge their employers for fear of being deported. That is not fair to American workers who must play by the rules. We used to have slaves in this country and much of it was built around the specious economic justification that they were essential. We don't need to sanction an underclass that will eventually result in the downfall of this country. If short-sighted people like you don't understand the Faustian bargain that is being made for short term profits, you will find out that they are not good for business or the future of this country in the long term.

REally, you willing to quit your job to lift 100 lb beams in 100 degree heat and 95% humidity in the south? That is the fact and you can paint me with any brush you want, but give these owners a solution to their labor problem.

Some conservatives believe they can wave a wand and there is a utopian conservative Country. Of course you boycott every business that hires Mexican which would include the lumber in your house, or your the hypocrite. Of course you don’t play golf since all the groundskeepers are Mexican.

RINOS & democrat whinos each week. Wallace proved this week that he is the worst host on that debate. Chris Wallace could as well start a fan club for Schumer.

Ain't it the (sad) truth? Hardly worth turning on the TV on Sunday mornings, anymore. Thank goodness for this fantastic thread every week on FR. Congratulations to last week's winners, and to all who regularly post to this thread.

Here 's something, Wallace-likes would not report - Former Deputy Attorney General Comey, Schumer, Fitzgerald & Scooter Libby -> The Connection.

Thanks. anita, for this remarkable story, which the drive-bys will NEVER EVER put in print.

That is the thing those calling for the Companies to pay decent wages therefore elimenate need for migrant workers are they

a) willing to pay more for their goods

b) will they support therefore heaven forbid a forced minimum wage that they fought so much against to ensure Americans actually are prepared to do the work

Interesting thought.

Once you are ‘in the book’, it is hard to get out of it. If you die, someone in your family has to swear to it to get you out.

^^^

Same here. I tried for two years to get my deceased father’s name off the books in Baltimore City. After phone calls, faxes and emails and more phone calls, I threatened going to the media. That worked.

That is such a great solution, just raise the price of labor. Where have we always heard that solution?? Put those evil mill owners out of business for the good of the worker. Worked great for the auto industry.

Bottom line is there are no good solutions and is why so much of the lumber industry is heading to China. Should make all you “conservatives” happy. You conservatives sound more Marxist all the time. Another reason I left the conservative movement.

Pray for W and Our Troops
