I share your sentiments Snugs.
Once I see the President referred to as Jorge I stop reading.
Immediately.
Wait a second, I am the FR chief apologist. Fact is we need Mexican labor, but need to control it and identify it. I personally work with a number of lumber companies that cannot find enough American labor to do their work.
What would you suggest, close the mills and move them to Mexico or China? How many busisesses are you willing to sacrifice?? What would you do if you were “el Presedente”?

Off to church to pray for America and the louder voices of those that appreciate the goodness of this great nation.
Interesting comment by McConnell. “If there is anything in this bill that gives preferential treatment to those here illegally over those who have followed legal procedures, it’s a non-starter.”
If that’s so, this bill is dead.
I agree. Republicans tend to focus on issues while Democrats are skilled at the politics of personal destruction and using the media to their benefit.
From NRO on this morning’s interview and the exchange between Dodd and Gingrich:
Newt and Dodd on Meet the Press
On Meet the Press, Newt Gingrich and Chris Dodd are going at it over Iraq. Newt has the wide, big-picture global vision of how the forces of freedom are getting knocked around in the war on terror, and how a deadline is just going to excite and inspire the bad guys. “If we’re gonna set a deadline, we might as well make it next Tuesday,” Newt said.
Chris Dodd has the argument that the Iraqi’s don’t know what they want, it’s a civil war, it’s time for us to get out and let them hash it out. Newt has the vision, but Dodd is expressing the sentiment of country weary of war.
Finally, Russert asks Newt whether he’s running.
Newt smiles. “I’m studying Chris Dodd’s campaign. If he demonstrates that there is a demand for a really white-haired candidate, then I’ll...”
“How about a ticket?” Dodd asks, laughing.
“I’m thinking about thinking about running,” Gingrich says finally. “By October, I’m confident we’ll be chatting.”

Surprised the Dems in the Nut House could even agree on a building name.

I really don’t think we have a good handle on the illegal immigrant population to begin with. They usually don’t cooperate with the census takers.
I am sure at least one of them was in West Virginia - named for Byrd./s
I agree with you, and would like to add - working here yes, if Americans cannot be found to do the job FOR DECENT WAGES (no slave labor groups ever again) AND...voting here...NOT UNLESS YOU ARE A LEGAL CITIZEN. That way we’ll take care of the Republicans needing Mexicans as cheap labor, and Democrats needing a new victim society for votes. THAT last sentence is the bottom line to all immigration issues.
I think representation should be determined, not by population figures, but by certified citizens who are registered to vote.

Wouldn’t that put a lot of pols knickers in a twist! (a little Brit lingo)
While I knew that Congressional boundaries are drawn by census results, you just made me realize that many ‘talking points’ about voter participation probably are based on population rather than citizenship or voter registration.
Years ago census returns included questions about citizenship. I wonder if modern ones still do that, or if that question has become “insensitive”?
Actually the Small Tent conservatives are far more insulting than most. They have driven people away from the Party in droves with their numerous “conservative” our way or the highway litmus tests.
Basically, if you agree with GW on anything you are not a conservative, which is why I have left the conservative movement.

Even though Clinton did worse unlawful things & got exposed, dems solidly stood behind him. But republicans OTOH, readily throwing stones on their Prez, even when nothing illegal done.
Yep ...Republicans = ideas, positivity, and character counts and Democrats = Complaining and Symbolism over Substance
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff; Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez; Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Calif.;Gov Napolitano

Some of the best discussion I have seen on the Immigration Bill
Bilbray is Very Good at explaining ideas in soundbite form.
Does this program publish a transcript?
He must have forgot Liddy Dole in the last election. Guess we don’t have our quota on this one.

AFDay. If they mention it...it will be in a
political mode..as they don’t give a damn...most
of them. We support...BS. How did we elect so
many egotistical nitwits??????????? JK
Right. “We don’t support quotas” would have been another applause line. Too bad no one jumped on that.
That is why you idiots continually lose in politics. You simply cannot grasp that just screaming your emotion based hysteria louder change anyones minds or persuade anyone to support your viewpoint.
But then you idiots would rather be losers. You been losers all your lives and simply have NO clue how to win at anything. You don’t really want to win anything. You just want scapegoats to blame for why you made such a retched mess of your pathetic trailer trash life. The minute you actually won in politics you would simply look for the next excuse to start whining and bitching. That way nothing in your pathetic life is your fault since you can simply blame it on some mythical self manufactured scapegoat.
That why you Alway Whining types are so politically irrelevant. You simply refuse to ever STAND for anything and NEVER do anything but bitch endlessly.
Then there is the pure gutlessness of you political cowards. You simply lack the balls to EVER attack the Left on anything. No, instead you losers spend ALL your time sniping your own side in the back. You simply are afraid of the Political Left and rationalize your morale cowardice by continually shooting your own side in the back so you can kid yourself how “principled” you all are. You are not principled, you are a coward.
So why don’t you waddle off to your hero Democrats Loser? Why don’t you go ask the people you spend all your time propagandizing for, what THEY are going to do on your pet issues?
Want to help the Conservative Movement? Simply GET OFF OUR SIDE. You spend all your time doing the Democrats PR work, simply go join them.
But considering that all you do IS propagandize FOR the Left, I suspect you never actually been on our side at all.
EXCLUSIVE: Hundreds of Illegals Have Registered to Vote in Bexar County
Officials are confident new procedures will purge them from the rolls
By Jim Forsyth
Wednesday, May 16, 2007
Hundreds of illegal immigrants have registered to vote in Bexar County in recent years and dozens of them have actually cast ballots, canceling out the votes of U.S. citizens, 1200 WOAI news will report Thursday morning.
Figures obtained by 1200 WOAI news shows 303 illegals successfully registered to vote, and at least 41 cast ballots in various elections.
Bexar County Elections Administrator Jackie Callanan confirmed the figures, but she says a new form of voter registration card, which requires people to swear they are citizens when they register, should help cut the problem, because people who vote illegally can be charged with perjury.
And the county has some sly ways to catch them.
Maybe they have received a jury summons, the jury wheel relies on registered voters. They send a statement to the jury room that says they are not U.S. citizens and then we get that report immediately, Callanan says.
Its a hot issue in the Texas Legislature, where republicans are pushing a bill that would require voters to show some form of identification before voting.
Considering that a photo ID is required to buy Sudafed, I cant understand why anyone would argue that the same standard, if not a higher standard, should apply to voting, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst said. Why would any Texan oppose legislation that ensures only U.S. citizens vote in elections?
While not taking a position on the legislation, Callanan warned that any law that required that people present ID at the polling place might actually discourage people from voting.
It will be cumbersome to have them presented at the polls, she said. The lines will be longer. It will require an additional check.
Some Democrats in the Legislature have fought the proposal, saying it would keep the poor and minorities, who generally vote Democratic, away from the polls. A key Democratic Senator and Dewhurst got into an argument on the floor of the Senate over the emotional issue.
Callanan says if an ID law is approved, she hopes a process is in place to allow the Secretary of State, not the individual poll judges at the polling places, to inspect the identification and certify that a voter is fit to vote.
Dewhurst says the legislation has been rewritten to make it as easy as possible for a person to prove their legal citizenship.
Voters can now present military ID, valid employee ID, citizenship certificate, passport, student ID card, handgun permit, utility bill, bank statement, pay stub, mail from a government entity, marriage license, birth certificate, adoption certificate, pilots license, hunting license, or even a library card, Dewhurst said. Whats so hard about this?
