Hard to disagree with that idea:)

After doing some reading and research - by no means complete- I see this bill as being truly awful on a myriad of levels. It is mind-boggling.

I’ve called, written, faxed and e-mailed my Congressmen, the RNC and the White House.

This week, on the advice of someone who is connected with the loyal opposition WITHIN the GOP, I’m going to visit the local offices of my senators.

It turns out that phone calls and visits really DO make a difference.

Purely personal opinion: I think representation should be determined, not by population figures, but by certified citizens who are registered to vote.

I ask kabar, if he knows, why it is that malfeasance by Republicans seems to always lead to prosecutions but nothing happens to Democrats? You were in the government, and I hope you have a logical answer, but it galls the heck out of me to see William Jefferson not only walking free but reelected, as well as Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha, Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer and others who all have ethics problems, and what appears to me to be criminal actions, where nothing is happening: no accountability.

I agree there is a double standard, but I don't know the cause of why the Dems are not being prosecuted or condemned for their improprieties. Perhaps it has somethng to do with the Reps own standards of conduct and our proclivity to admit guilt or to resign. We act guilty even if we are not. The Dems brazen things out and deny, deny, deny. And the Reps don't go after them.

In terms of prosecution, perhaps there is an institutional bias among DOJ careerists. Maybe the shadow of Watergate still has an impact over there. Look at who Deep Throat was.

Steffie conducts a valentine interview with Pelosi. She believes it is harder for a woman to become Speaker than to be elected President.

This is one long smooch and is making me ill.

Her biggest job right now she says is ending this war. Nancy, let me tell you, if you succeed, the war won’t end, it will just be fought elsewhere, and I don’t mean Afganistan.

You make yourself look childish and churlish when you refer to your President as el Presidente Jorge Bush not to mention disrespectful.

What good points you may have made are wasted as once I and I am certain many others see that your post is just ignored.

I don’t read ALL posts by anyone, but I have to say I have not seen MNJ as a chief apologist for anyone.

Pelosi is operating under the delusion that she IS president and CAN end this war. I am sick of both her and Hillary constantly reminding people that they are females. We know it already!

The hardest thing for Do Nothing Nancy is passing legislation. So far she has zero, which is a good thing. At least the Repubs got things, like the budget; done.

Pray for W and Our Troops

And the bummer for him is that those elements have to remain behind the scenes. It has to be a real calling to be President if you are like W. Reagan had a different era of challenges. What W is facing on a daily basis would cripple the average Joe. I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU and couldn't have put it better myself.

I truly believe that we all need to use perspective more wisely, and use our energy to call Congress and give any President the tools to make the changes we want. It is one man vs. an entire legislative body...sometimes friendly, sometimes not...and in THIS day/era, ALWAYS filled with mass quantities of ego...not the best combo to work with as a Pres. Now, add the MSM constantly bashing you and the general public believing the lies that are said over and over, and purposefully simplified so whatever is desired to be passed around can be easily remembered and delivered.

I don't know how W does it and remains sane. (Again...NOT soliciting the "no he's not sane" comments ...and if posted, it will say more about the poster than the Pres.)

I have contacted my senators, my congressman, and the WH more than once this past week. My last donation to the RNC said 'no amnesty'. I have added statements about 'anchor babies' to any comments about this bill.

There is a local office for my congressman. I think I will go by there tomorrow. :)

I understand the sentiment. Thoughts come to mind.

When the Constitution was written not everyone had the right to vote and that was changed over time and there should be no requirement that people vote or register to vote. Voting is a right, not an obligation.

Everyone pays taxes one way or another. I’ve entertained thoughts of only property owners voting on tax issues that affect property owners, but I doubt that will ever happen.

I wish someone would nominate me as an apologist (if not chief apologist) for President Bush. :-)

There is also the media bias. A Republican scandal goes on and on and on and on with banner headlines and “guilt by accusation” attacks reported as “NEWS”. Outside of talk radio William Jefferson has gotten next to no coverage.

Then there is the simple fact that repetition works. People tend to pick up on things they hear over and over and over and over. Republicans do not focus with laser like intensity on their foes. They spend too much time worrying about “getting along” while the Left sinks it teeth in deep and never ever lets go. Scream a lie often enough and some people start thinking their must be some truth to it. We cannot even get the Conservative media to focus on truth for more then a minute before they move on to the next manufactured media story.

The fact of the matter is the Conservative Media Establishment is a parasite that feeds off the US Junk Media. They continually respond to, they do not generate, the news cycle. When ever the Conservatives DO throw up someone who can manage the Democrat Press machine, like Newt, the Left pulls out all stops and is utterly relentless in destroying them.

the Social Security time bomb is ticking and will explode if this bill passes unvetted.

There will be 15 million low wage, unskilled, and uneducated laborers added to the workforce.

They will not make enough income to be subject to federal income taxes (espececially those with Z2 and Z3 dependents).

They will be subject to minimal SSI deductions.

Z2 and Z3 visas will add another 15 to 30 million spouses, parents, and children to the amnesty (meaning 30 to 45 million low wage, unskilled permanent residents almost immediately). They will contribute almost nothing to the tax rolls, and will be net consumers of social services.

Result: a Z1 visa holder will contribute only minimally to the SSI revenue pool, and pay no federal (and likely state) taxes. With Z2 and Z3 dependents, he/she will be a net consumer of taxpayer supported services for at least a generation.

I haven’t watched Steffie in a long time. I just keep getting flashes of his arrogance when he was giving a deposition furing the toon’s impeachment.

SS will go into the red in 2017 regardless. Congress must do something before then. The only question is what. There is no doubt that legalizing the status of 12 to 20 million people will further cripple a system that is structurally flawed.
