Responding To John McCain's Decree
Huh Hewitt on townhall.com ^ | May 18, 2007 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 05/18/2007 7:31:45 AM PDT by Tirian

John McCain decreed yesterday that his immigration bill would be the law and that there would be no dissent.

My new Townhall.com column deals with the extraordinary repulsiveness of such a stance, but in practical terms, the only way to respond is by contributing to a serious opponent of McCain, either Mayor Giuliani or Governor Romney. Or both.

If you don't like being treated like a political serf, fund the opponent of the candidate who embodies contempt for the Republican base.

To remind you of the law as laid down by Senator McCain, here is what he said:

"We can and must complete this legislation sooner rather than later. We all know that this issue can be caught up in extracurricular politics unless we move forward as quickly as possible."

You are the "extracurricular" --your views, your reaction, your vote. Simply put, Senator McCain's contempt for you is complete. React accordingly.

The Senate's GOP leadership has not yet followed Senator McCain over the cliff. I hope they wake up in time to realize the party-splitting peril they are in with the proposed jam down on the table.

This excellent article offers a disturbing insight into how McCain apparently views the legislative process ... and what he seems to think of a huge part of his own party.

Like we don't already have ample evidence?

Hewitt, you are a flippin Retard. You support flip flop Romney, and the ONLY reason you are expressing outrage over this is becuase you thik it will knock off McCain and further Mitt’s chances. If Mitt had called this the cat’s meow, LIKE HE DID IN 2005, you’d be singing it’s praises, Hugh. We are on to you.

And Rudy has been far worse than Ted Kennedy’s wet dream when it comes to immigration.

I could not more strongly disagree. The way to fight this is to join the Constitution Party and let the d's and r's join with the greens in sharing the left wing Republic hating vote.

I know I’ll get slammed for saying this, but I think McCain has been hit on the head one too many times.

I look forward to the look on McCain’s face in January of 2009 when he’s in the stands, not taking the oath.

I wish someone would point out to McLame how much “greenhouse gas” emissions will be increased if we allow 50 million new citizens. We all know how concerned he is with “global warming.”

McCain just joined Ron Paul in the 1% club. Arizona can keep him, because he doesn’t stand a snowflakes chance in the Sudan of becoming President.

Not from me you won't.

John McInsane has de-evolved into an arrogant, senile fool who represents as much a threat to the Constitution of the United States as any left-wing Communist/socialist.

Remember McInsane is the same joker who kept referring to John F'in Kerry as his "dear friend", and we all know that a man is known by the company (and the friends) that he keeps.

And when McCain’s popularity tanks it will be blamed on his support of the Iraq War.

Is anyone surprised by the quote? From CFR to his threat to regulate baseball and the internet, the guy has revealed his statist colors. This is just another example.

Hugh Hewitt can be very useful, especially when he has Mark Steyn as a guest. But he becomes totally politicized and seemingly loses his mind when he does.

We know he is a Mitt Romney bot. He’s pretending not, here. But frankly McCain and Giuliani are both simply unacceptable as candidates. We’ve known that about McCain for years, and it has been confirmed that Giuliani is also totally unacceptable over the past month.

That seems to leave Romney. But no, Romney also has major problems. He cannot be trusted to stand firm, his record makes that crystal clear. He cannot be trusted on life issues, he cannot be trusted on guns, he cannot be trusted on homosexual activists. He has proved that again and again.

That appears to leave Fred. Not Mitt Romney, and certainly not Giuliani. Sorry, Hugh, but when you are in political mode, you are useless.

Hewitt is a moron if he thinks donating to Rooty to get back at McCain over this issue is smart.

Rooty is the worst of the lot on illegals.

This Amnesty/Chain immigraion bill is the worst bill off all time. It gives amnesty to 20 million illegals and lets them bring their families and they their familes and so on. If Democrats who control Congress will pass this bill then it will be the end of the United States as we know it.

McCain got together with another liberal Democrat Kennedy to engineer this threat to America. McCain got together with Soros' groups and another liberal, FeinGold , to destroy Freedom of speech with another law, McCain-Feingold.

I can't believe that the liberal media has brainwashed people into supporting this liberal (McCain) in Republican clothing.
