I vow to oppose this legislation supported by Senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain. It provides a vast new immigration benefit to millions of illegal aliens who have broken our laws to live in the United States.I opposed the 1986 amnesty act because of this same reason. It proved to be the draw that we predicted it would be.I am deeply disappointed to see history repeating itself.
This package will confirm to the world that the U.S. does not really mean what it says when it comes to immigration enforcement. As a result of the citizenship benefit included in this legislation, despite the fine print, we will see a stampede across our borders.
This vast new amnesty and expansive guest worker program will surely be ridden with fraud and abuse, and ultimately lead to millions of public-assistance-dependent immigrants.
The Senates decision to blatantly ignore the Secure Fence Act signed into law last year and only require construction of 370 miles of fence, as opposed to the 854 miles mandated by the law, is a dramatic failure of this legislation. The San Diego border fence has proven that fencing works. The time has come to quickly implement the Secure Fence Act, not retreat from its mandates.
I believe that this package will result in lower wages for Americas already-struggling families by encouraging the importation of cheap foreign labor rather than investing, developing and growing a domestic workforce that will sustain our economy far into the future.
Amnesty is not the answer.Border enforcement must be first and it must be comprehensive. To do otherwise is to repeat the mistakes of the past. This Senate bill is bad for Americans, bad for our workers, bad for law enforcement and, most importantly, bad for national security.I will fight it.Please join with me.

Call. Write. E-mail your representatives
Tell what you think about this bill.
Also, send an e-mail to the White House and let Jorge know what you think about him.
LAST and NOT LEAST, write a check to Duncan Hunter and a letter of support.
Let him KNOW that people out there are beginning to take notice of him and his message.
Of all the candidates running and not running, Duncan Hunter is the best.

I just sent him $25. I want to see him rise to the ‘top tier’ of candidates and change the tone of the debate.
Not behind him 100% - too SoCon in certain ways for me, like the Parents’ Empowerment Act which was really dumb, but compared to rudy mcromney’s liberal positions, I can live with him given the rest of his record.
BUMP!!!
Read what he said. If this turd is going to have rock solid opposition, it will be Hunter.
Yes, but if the lamestream media cares to even acknowledge the topic, they will give Tancredo the coverage about it. It's been his issue for quite some time now.
Hunter had better get medieval on McPain's azz in the next debate, if he wants to pull out of single digits in the polls.
“We were cheering the House republicans. Were you?”
Yes, I was. (Check my posts from around that time.) But I ALSO was resisting the prevailing “stay home to protest against the GOP” mentality that I saw here on FR. Were you?
I voted early and often. Though I did not vote for the milquetoast GOP senator that was served up by the GOP to compete with Cantwell. Though had I voted for him he might not have lost 65% to 35%. LOL
Well said.
Bush is seeking a legacy and with this amnesty bill and its highly undesireable long term effects, Bush’s legacy will be that he signed legislation, that among other things, gives the Dems tens of millions of new Dem voters.
Thus giving political and judicial control of the USA to the extreme left (the Dem Party of today fits that description) for the next 50+ years or possibly permanently.
With total political power, can anyone honestly deny that a DNC version of Chavez policies could be enacted?
I hear ya!
When the RNCC calls me for a donation,i’ll be sure to tell them that i’m not voting Republican this year-i’ll be supporting Thompson/Hunter in 08.Of course they’ll probably say,”Well, you know they’re Republicans”,and i’ll respond with”nope, they’re conservative americans-there’s a difference”...right before I hang up.
There was a statistics professor on the radio this morning, who has been studying this for several months, saying the minimum number of illegals in this country today is 38 MILLION.
If these millions are made, by the stroke of the President’s pen, *LEGAL*, the economic, political and social patterns of this country will instantly be changed forever.
Apparently Pelosi said she would see the bill unless Bush got 70 Republicans in the House. I think that’s nearly impossible. This would be the first time I like Pelosi’s chose, if that’s truely how it will go down.
But we’ll see.
Keep it up Hunter and I yet may have hope for 2008 :)
Wow! A politician with a brain (not to mention other important parts)! He’s still sounding good to me.
I just got to speak to Congressman Hunter on Howie Carr’s show! I asked him to pass the word that leaving the back door open in a huge insult to our troops in harms way.
